Literally nobody here is a "cubit hater".

Really? Provide the quotes on that one. I know PJ says rolling off his tongue too hastily... so it wouldn't be a shock if something Like that was said, or sloppily said with hastily assumed exaggeration to the listeners... but I can't totally buy what he said unless I'd see the quote tho. I think with all our million injuries, it would Feel like a lower-tier (no, not DII of course) arsenal to work with.
Quote:Or Fleck apologists and Cubit haters
Who's Hating Cubit? Who's rooting for Cubit to do poorly at Illinois? Backing up that it was time for Cubit to go -- which IMO, was best for WMU *and* Cubit -- isn't being a Cubit Hater. Pointing out WHY it was time for Cubit to go isn't hating on him. All this bombardment is purely anti-Fleck -- not an argument about the whys & hows of the Xs and Os as to where one sets expectations of sub-par, par, over-par, etc.
In my mind, I keep going back to the fact and reality that Cubit is no longer our coach. Duh. Blaming Cubit is pointless. I understand the constructive criticism of Fleck. Last weekend was rough (understatement?). Last season was fun. Did he deserve the contract increase? Who knows! Is it a reality? Yes. Should we move on? Why squabble over things that are out of our control? I suppose that's the point of message boards.
DB, CD, Major, et al: who would your ideal coach be? What characteristics would you want?
I know we all want this team to win. Winning is the only way to make all happy. Winning may likely result in the the departure of Fleck. Losing will ensure his 269 residency.

I've read critical commentary of Cubit, pre and post firing, but nothing of which I'd consider over-the-top "hate." People might've been grumpy and ready for change, but this wasn't anywhere near the RichRod or Hoke type fan treatment. Then again I don't visit much during the off-season so maybe I missed some stuff.

I think that the Fleck-Apologists (as have been termed here), don't spew "hate" of Cubit or his time here.... but there are definitely some Cubit-Apologists who have shown a definite "hate" of Fleck.

Okay. At least narrow it down to something and be logical about it. Nobody's hating on Cubit. Period. I know I'm rooting for Cubit & Illinois. Heck, I had a fantasy he'd take over Illinois with "Becknado" screwing things up and that came true. I want Illinois to do well before and After (but not during) playing us, With Cubit. Rumor mill on Illinois forums is that Illinois is looking at Jim Tressel, by the way. Pure rumor speculation, though. Google for the lowdowns on that stuff.
Anyway, back to the topic -- nobody's rooting Against Cubit with Illinois. At all. Fleck has earned flack? Sure, criticisms to some degree like any coach does. But has he earned "hate" and bashing as served up by some folks here after a bad loss, after going 8-5 last year? No.
