We'll I'll give them props for not being biased. People $hit on them for perceived biases and black chopper theories of them running things in the background and pushing their assets so they are in a no win situation with you guys. Nothing wrong with the article other than us being a mid major. We are the 8th best conference that's something inbetween mid major and power. I'd call it major. This conference had almost half their teams over 215 RPI last year, maybe that's not typically whats going to happen but it did happen last year so hard to deny it or that traditional powers like UConn and Memphis weren't down.

I don't get why people seem to have this need to conjoin "The Big East" and "The American." The standing of one has absolutely nothing to do with the standing of the other.

Of course The (New-new) Big East is a "Major" conference. That objective fact has nothing to do with the AAC.

The Big East was way better last year...let's be honest about it at least.

In basketball, last year, yes. All sports overall... there's no contest.

The Big East's problem is that the conference is completely irrelevant right now; they don't play FBS football. Why does anyone care about this discussion during Week 2 of the FBS football season? We can start talking about it in mid-January.

The new big east basketball only is slowly becoming an afterthought, most everyone isn't interested in watching that small league anymore as before.

College Hoops 2k used to classify conferences

Power
Major
Mid major
low major

This makes about the most sense. Mid major would indicated something closer to 15th of the 32 conferences, hence "mid".

Typically it's going to look something like this IMO

Power: Power 5 (1-5)

Major: Big East, MWC, A10, AAC.....Missouri Valley/West Coast (6-12)

Mid major: Hoizon, MAC, Sun Belt, CUSA, CAA etc (13-20)

Low major: everyone else (21-32)

It's completely unfair right now as the bottom of this league is just now improving their recruiting and investments now that they have the luxury of playing with better schools at the top. The nBE schools already had the luxury of playing with big time programs for years.

Talk to me in 3-4 years (assuming the AAC stays the same) once the investments payoff and the results from much better ESPN exposure kick in. I mean sucky ass Tulane just signed the best recruiting class in 20 years.
