37 posts to go when I hit send. If you are going to bust my count down you need to get cracking. :-)

I went on a bit of a posting frenzy this weekend.

No one gives a ton of feedback.

The rules on reputation exist because of (like every other crazy rule here) The Memphis Board, they went through a thing about 2 years ago where they were giving every Memphis fan positive rep, and every non Memphis fan negative rep. At one point, half the regulars on that board had crazy high reputation levels of plus 350 or more, including posters with like 50 posts total.

We changed the rules, so you must have 500 posts to give reputation, and you can only give one positive and one negative rep to an individual poster in a month. You also can't give more than X number of Rep points in a 12 hour period if I remember.

The point of the whole reputation system is to be able to give users a guide of how well thought of a particular poster is. A person with a high negative rep mark would likely be a known troll, the idea being that it makes them more likely to put a person on ignore if it's clear they are here to just troll everyone.

Blame Memphis for your plight.

I think the threshold could be a bit lower but I did not know of the history until now. Hearing that now makes sense and seems reasonable all the way around. Maybe 335 should be the target.

On the Yosef Cabin board we had the up/down vote at first when we moved off the Delphi Forums we had been on for over a decade (before I was involved.) As soon as we had the up/down vote we had a problem with a few posters (our own Mountaineer family) getting hit with a lot of neg votes. Maybe they deserved it, but in some cases it was a few years of built up frustration that came to bear as soon as the neg votes could be cast, or so it seemed to me that this was the case. It was decided fairly quickly to keep the up votes and not even have down votes. I am sure it saved a few hurt feelings. And we were stickin' it to one of our own.

As much as I joke about casting out neg votes to the GaSo fans I find most of their posts, and in fact, most all the posts on here reasonable enough and those that are not I just ignore in most cases.

The whole 500 post thing is just something for me to go on about. (I lead a pitiful life I guess.)

Well, I know some on the MMB who would be in a negative hole the size western carolina's football record had the negative rep had remained. I'd probably be at zero, or slightly below, myself.

If it makes you feel any better, I once got neg repped for "abusing moderator power" when I joked about resetting your post count before you got to 500.

So someone at least feels for you.

I got -2 rep points from that Army fan that loves Liberty for referencing Liberty fans as "you people."

I bet you could start a whole thread about stupid reasons why you've gotten negative reputation points.

I don't think I have every gotten any negative points yet. I might let loose a frenzy of rep points when I hit 500 posts and get at some people who will want to retaliate, but so far I have been trying to place nice.

Neg-2 for that does seem a bit harsh. Neg 1 seems harsh really but-2 seems a bit extreme.

That was discussed some months ago wen a GaSo fan crossed into the promised land of the glorious 500 Club. So far I am hoping to fly under the radar just enough to sneak right in. However I don't think I have heard from the Eagle fan again.

Hmmmm.

I am here, but forgot about that plan. Halfway home, I suspect.

Keep at it. 227 is over the hill.
I've upped my game, posted about 15 in the month so at this rate I'll hit that wonderful mark in March 2017 07-coffee3

Man, pre selecting which McCleansville posts to delete are pretty easy, just search for Bubbas Cup and you find him.

That is a very valuable service I have been providing for FREE even. Think of the value-added material I bring to this board with those posts.

(Insert more business jargon in here for a longer post that basically says nothing extra.)

I am sure some of the App faithful do those sorts of posts, but I really do try and take a bit more positive attitude to all of this on a multi-school board. I'll join the dialog during the game if I have time while I am at work, but I hope I don't come across as "talking down" to you. Maybe talking across to you, but not down.

On the MMB there is a politics folder. Well, I have to join that b/c I can't keep my thoughts to myself, and of course I am correct all the time. The thread with the mosts posts from me is in that folder. Nothing to do about App athletics but gun control instead.
