We'll be strapping on our Nekton Neons for NIU. Just remember, a hungry dog is an angry dog. An angry dog is a dangerous dog. A dangerous dog should be avoided. When you avoid a dangerous dog the run you down . When you run from a dangerous dog trying to run you down you might get bit. And if I hungry dangerous dog bites you might get rabies . And if you get rabies from a hungry dangerous dog you could die . :rock:bba

RE: OFFICIAL GAME THREAD - Broncos vs Sparty 9/4/15
I know I'm late, but here's my thoughts on Week 1. (This was really the most relevant thread I could find)

Michigan St brought a lot fans but it wasn't overwhelming or a majority. They were actually pretty quiet. I know many of you were concerned the whole stadium would be chanting "Go Green! Go White!" but it was never whole sections. I hear criticism all the time of the Big 10 not wanting to travel to the MAC/G5 because the whole stadium would be Big 10 but this isn't the case at all. A large part had to do with our students coming out in full force and staying. They never left (even when I wanted to in the 3rd) and were all in Brown and Gold. While I did hear a couple 'this is a small stadium', I also heard plenty of 'This is a nice field' 'this is a great place to watch football,' etc.
The only thing that made me truly upset was all the Sparty tents in the track tailgate. Made me want to puke and torch the place.

Sparty has big holes on special teams, their backs, and their backup QB who played 1 drive and had incomplete passes left and right to no one. Sparty didn't look that great running. Cook is great as is Calhoun. Cook had to play the whole game, and I'm pretty sure most of their starters did.
I don't think Sparty was ever worried but I think they're really questioning their team that had to play their starters the whole game vs a team picked 3rd in the division in the MAC.
Top 5 teams beat those midmajors by 50.......with their backups.

WMU out gained Sparty in yards and had a chance to close that 13 point deficit 5 minutes to go. WMU also stopped in the red zone 3-4 different times. Couple more completions and it's a tie or Bronco victory.
Stay healthy, and I like our chances vs Toledo and/or NIU. I keep hearing from Sparty that WMU is going to win the MAC this year and that makes me :) Also keep hearing how Davis will play in the NFL someday from Sparty too. :) That being said, and I know GA Southern isn't MAC play, but it's important we beat them as we have to continue the fan momentum and excitement from the Michigan St game.

I agree with this. Whether or not MSU took its foot off the gas after scoring to start the second half is debatable. I disagree - that's not exactly MSU's style, especially on the defensive side of the ball - but I can understand why some might think that. I do think MSU expected - and certainly would have preferred - to get their backups more PT in this game and were probably surprised a majority of their starters had to go the distance.

Did anyone see this press conference? PJ Fleck "Taking a loss to the number 5 team in the country at home is unacceptable." I LOVE IT!

I don't think it's all that debatable, since they had their starters in. The way the 2nd half played out, they went at us Hard in their 1st possession, got a TD. We returned that with a TD. We stopped them and they punted, and Cook came out on the sidelines Pissed (he wasn't having a great game). How much of that was foot off the gas? Because they punted? Lack of a sense of urgency by Everyone when out on the field that drive? Yeah, I guess. You can say that about any team at any time when they have a comfortable lead -- I guess Maybe one after the opposing team scores a TD? In the end, no, it wasn't any "Taking foot off the gas."

After that we have a drive and score a TD. MSU comes on the field and rams it down our throats, inside the 10, but we Stuff them and force a FG. Definitely NOT any foot off the gas. They did NOT want to be forced to kick a FG.

We go three and out, but then so does MSU. 3 and out? That much foot off the gas with a 13 pt lead? Conservative play calling that we could guess, I guess. But that's not the same. A lot of players for MSU had a lot to prove, as does the team when it's only in the 2 possession lead / 2 possession to lose the lead.
Did their D play a bit too soft, up 34-17?
