Some surprises on 2 deep
http://www.mlive.com/broncos/index.ssf/2...ver_mobile

Boykin loses his starting spot at TE

Freshmen Beal, Juriga, Bogan, Curtis make two deep

Not a huge surprise, but they still beat out experienced players to get on the two deep. Tranquill, Kennoy.

Freshmen who I'm surprised didn't make it. Findlay, French

Freshmen who I wish weren't on the two deep. Flacco

Where I hope he goes deeper than two deep. I hope he plays at least three running backs, and gets Findley in the mix at DT.

Boykin suffered a knee injury in the spring and is medically not available to play.

Always proud to be a Bronco, RTB.

RE: Some surprises on 2 deep
Appear to be very deep at LB and DE. Deep enough at DB and OL, and deep at RB although a drop off in talent after JF.

The depth at WR is scary. I think our three deep would see serious PT at several MAC schools.

Only 11 seniors in the two-deep - and two of those seniors are the punter and the kicker. Again - this is still going to be a very young team.

I'm a little surprised that Bezeera hasn't cracked the two-deep at TE by this point.

Weakest spot still DT. Strongest is obviously WR!

In terms of depth the weakest spot is QB in my opinion,

True. Who DO we have as a backup that showed some reasonable success in spring training -- in the case that our QB gets injured in the first few games? We could be done for if that happens...

i WOULDN'T BE SO QUICK TO SAY THAT. Flacco looked very impressive in thew spring game. He has arm and legs to be a very tough qb when needed. He will suprise some people.

Surprised by Ifkovits, Juriga, Novoselsky and Beal.

Ifkovits has bounced between lines settling in at OL and guard. Wondering if he is that athletic he isn't still filling holes at DT at over 300.

Novoselsky had a significant knee injury and appears to have bounced back. Good for him.

Juriga, has the blood lines but means little. Hope it isn't by default.

Beal. After Flashdance I should have recognized the footwork was there.

I see improvement here.

Buttons only used caps momentarily.

And inspite of inexperience with the system I like Flacco's competitiveness. Tough to follow in his #broback's footsteps. Either you rise above it or you get trampled under. Looks like he has embraced the challenge. Yes, wont have all the nuances of Zach but who would? Has wheels to escape and create. Has arm that is competitive. Surrounded by athletes and like mindset. Factor in savvy and inexperience is less an issue.

i've heard very little about Alex Grace. They are keeping a very low profile on him for some reason.

I've read Fleck was hoping to redshirt a number of incoming freshman. LB is relatively deep with both talent and experience. Jackson, a senior is 2nd in line behind Lewis who's a junior. Depalma is in his last year with Sylva a RS junior behind him. No sense burning a year making him a full time LB over splitting time at RB as in HS.

Also, Sylva and Lewis missed the entire last season. LB is an explosive high impact position. AG is a play away from possibly being needed. He should be in a good place to learn, develop and be ready if needed.

Alex seemed to be a high profile recruit. The fact we are now in a position to give the incoming talent the space to learn and develop is encouraging. Coach has not been adverse to using freshmen in the past, I think he recently claimed 18 freshmen played last year. I do note that many on the two deep had used a redshirt.

Purely speculating on Grace but trying to imagine logically.

RS indicating that Cubit did provide a solid base for both the significant additional financial resources provided Fleck and Fleck's ability to sell using it. Kristof, Beavers, Moten, Hoffing, Boyden, Terrell, Celiscar, Currie, Atkins, Zamort simply examples that let others develop as these started and or starred.
