I'm glad we are playing the schedule we are. The Admiral has a vision beyond the mediocre results this program has achieved for decades. Scheduling top notch competition is part of the process. Grab an oar.

Anybody can boast about lofty goals, and diminish those who came before them.

Imagine a snot nosed new employee joining your firm and droaning on about where he will take the company while belittling all that has come before him.

I expect 8+ wins because that's how he sold it.................until he started lowering expectations by trumpeting the process "as the real measure of results." Try telling your boss, "No, I didn't reach my sales goals, but I'd still like my bonus because I worked really hard during the process." 04-rock

So now Fleck is the guy getting credit for the 3-1 with MSU and the OSU game?

Not really, but don't worry, it's all just part of an ongoing process.

One thing I can't get past: what came before him? A MAC title in 1988? What does he need to be paying homage to that he hasn't already? Should he have the team wear helmet stickers to honor the back-to-back losses to Marshall in the MAC title game? A patch to commemorate us not even showing up in the Texas Bowl? Please expand.

Some of the best companies out there were started by young, brazen, out-of-the box thinkers. Glad they didn't listen to the good old boys telling them how it was "back in their day".

He said he'd change them. Time to deliver on the words. Guess he figured that getting the top salary in the conference would lower the bar?

"Darn, this promising things and getting rewarded is good work, I'm going to talk my way around any kind of accountability and ask for raises during the PROCESS, they're such bumpkins they'll never catch on to me"

Peej needs to back up his talk.

You 'guys' act like you don't want him to succeed because he might leave you...behind.

I'd rather have the Admiral doing things unconventionally than gramps punching the clock and finishing in 3rd place again. Please....

Please!

Who is lowering the bar? It's called being realistic about CURRENT expectations.

I never heard Fleck say we would win a MAC championship by the 2015 season.

I'm simply saying this isn't going to be "THE" year IMO. Personally, I'm expecting it to be next year. 2016 the stars (should) align. Next season is the year I expect Fleck and our student athletes to take our program to the next level.

But you like third place? That's just odd.

I hope so, he was hired to do better, not the same. He talked the big game, now deliver. It's not that hard to understand, your abandonment fears notwithstanding.

Why do you change the subject from #brocoach to Bill?

Bill has turned around other's messes before, maybe they're counting on him to do that there?

As for here, Peej righted the mess he created. Now he should build on it, after all, he said that was his purpose. Now he's following a process to achieve his goals. No time better than now to deliver on the boasting.

If true it would the first time he has had any measurable alum and admin $ support.
To date Illinois hasn't shown any commitment in quite awhile.

What other profession can you basically fail, make a ton of promises and get a 40% raise?

Please don't annoy him with facts, he'll just change the subject anyway.... 05-nono
