RE: Broncos 2015 Season
Quote:Imagine a snot nosed new employee joining your firm and droaning on about where he will take the company while belittling all that has come before him.

It's a new, young, brash CEO where:
- To some who like things the way they were see him as a snot-nosed brat, and aren't ever going to like him unless they're getting raises as the company historically soars
- To some who raise an eyebrow are skeptical, but know change was needed, and as long as the company's at least headed in the direction he's brashly aiming for, they're happy
- To some who are excited and jump on the boat with glee, off the bat (while annoying the heck out of the first group)

Quote:I expect 8+ wins because that's how he sold it.................until he started lowering expectations by trumpeting the process "as the real measure of results."

That's not lowering expectations. It's putting things in perspective. Say Cubit stayed after the 4-8 season that the followed 3 ~.500 years, and we kept him for another year -- and there was lots of talk in forums and the media about him having to get things really going like he did in the beginning, so say he preached doing so in the off-season and said things Are going to be good in time but it takes time right from the beginning (YES, Fleck HAS always stated that it'll take some time to be champ-worthy), but that IS where we're going to be soon enough .... and then we have a good year which is a big sigh of relief for all the fans. OK. Great. Glad we kept Cubit. But then coming into a year with a super-daunting schedule he reminds folks in Some conferences that the process is the real measure of results, reminding that it doesn't mean MACC now, and looking forward into the next year or so while the players are still young. Only anti-Cubit people are going to be b!tching about it. They're going to be like "Okay, we kept him after 4-8. Fine. He says we'll get better. I want to see it now. OH, he's lowering the standards with that line?!" -- No. He ALWAYS said that. The thing with Fleck is that his exuberance and enthusiasm in the now and talking about winning in the now gives a different Impression as well, if one's only looking at that.

If I didn't want a HC to be here and the POV that he shouldn't have been here -- why did we keep (see Beckman) or hire him -- I would be impatient and probably be slipping up, expecting too much and being too critical of expectations (because, well, who likes Beckman anyway? Some players didn't, and Cubit and him almost threw-down during an OSU game).

Where has he failed? I'll give you the 1-10 season even though he was working with your daddies bare cupboard.

To date Illinois hasn't shown any commitment in quite awhile.

Please expand on Illinois showing no commitment in quite a while. I need facts or I'm going to change the subject, however.

Al Moldevwon the MAC and was almost always in contention. Were Times different he would've played in a half a dozen bowl games. Gary Darnell took a two win team and put them in back to back MAC championship games.

HAWKINS can crow about accomplishments, but I never hear him play down what past coaches accomplished, even though their body of work may not be as impressive as his.

Cubit had 7,8,and 9 win seasons, was often in contention, and played in three bowls. Yet he never belittled Darnell even after he inherited his mess and went 7-4 in his first year.

If you're LOL about past accomplishments than you're nothing more than a live in the moment bandwagon fan.

Bare cupboard? Currie, Terrell, Moten, Kristoff, Zamort, Cekeskar, Braverman, and Wilson? he hardly left the cupboard bare.

He got the job because he was the one bright spot in an otherwise chit storm and they trust him to do the right thing, like he has proven previously.

He didn't fail, his offense was the best improved from 2012 to 2013 in the country.

Nice try Chuck now get back to your negative ratings of me, they hurt so much!! 03-melodramatic

More likely than not. Heard he lost that radio gig through all that fallout.

There was a mediocre coach who lead an underachieving program over the well heeled and prolific Illini in Ford's field.

Expansive enough?
