One local "expert" says our team will actually be BETTER this year. According to him, the offense will be the most potent in Memphis history and the defense will have more talent and size than last year. Personally, I am cautiously optimistic. One thing for sure - Memphis is now serious about football.

It's an athletic competition. It's not about being "like". It's about being 'better'.

Winning.

More reasonable to concern myself w/ being "like" (re money) --- since only after is there any legitimate shot at "better." Of course, unreasonable minds may differ.

I said you would be good....what part of that smacks troll? I don't see you winning 10 games this year. Am I not entitled to an opinion? I bet some of your own fans have the same opinion. If you think you are going to go 13-0 more power to ya. I see 8-4. You see, in the preseason, we do something called predictions. Nobody really knows what will happen so we make our best guess. My prediction is you will be good, but come back to earth to some degree...

^ I think some Tiger fans read "come back to earth a bit" as 4-8, not 8-4. I tend to agree that last season's results will be hard to replicate.

I'm not sure how they'd read it as 4-8, since he said they would "still be good."

Unless UofMemphis thinks 4-8 is good.

I think that gulfcoastgal was only referring to "come back to earth a bit" since that's what she quoted. It looks to me like she is only stating that some Tiger fans may focus on those few words and perhaps miss the "still be good" comment.

I don't have an issue with Bearcat#1's comment and gulfcoastgal didn't express a personal issue with it.

Can someone tell me if I understand this correctly. FCOA legislation doesn't change the number of scholarships that go to particular sports, just the amount of money per scholarship. So baseball players will still get .3 of a scholarship etc.. it just goes up a little.

So we don't beat cincy 41-14, run the ball the whole 4th quarter and kneel it out on the five to end the game.

Thanks OT for looking out for me. Yeah, if you take out last year, 4-8 might just be "good." One thing I've noticed as an "out of towner/t-shirt fan," home grown Tiger fans are harder on the program than anyone else.

I'm an old school Tiger fan and even a former staff member. I think we'll be better. @Houston, @Temple , Cincy, and Navy make the road tougher though.

Glad to do it for a good Tiger fan.

You're a very well informed fan/poster that isn't a "trouble starter" on message boards, it was easy to see for me to see your point of view.

Insane_Baboon didn't have the experience of reading your posts for years to understand that you fully knew what you were talking about.

I'll be in Memphis for that game. Come on down where I'm tailgating on Tiger Lane, and I'll buy you a beer. And we'll see who punches whom. 04-cheers

I challenge you to a dance off! This will end the debate. I'm a uncoordinated white guy too. Let's roll Bearcat! Hell, we can do it at a YMCA and put up crayon made Tulsa signs.

Not sure if you heard, but 41-14!
