New video on Tulane Athletics and Katrina (and since)
Sometimes even I forget how bad this was.

We had to cut down to 8 sports, and now we have three new facilities and are in a better conference with national exposure. Tulane released a video for the tenth anniversary of Katrina highlighting where Athletics was then and where it is now.

That said, its time for wins and losses to matter. We've rebuilt the sports, and the athletics staff. We've built some new facilities. It's time to win. That's the best tribute to these kids from 2005.

The content of the video is very strong. The background music was a mistake.

I'm glad Tulane and the New Orleans area has been able to come back from such a devastating event in our lifetime.

I saw evidence of the damage during my trip to the Sugar Bowl in 2010 - several years after it happened.

For those who lived in New Orleans before 08/29/05, it is still amazing to drive around the city even now in 2015 and see blank spaces where a house or building used to be. It really does put topics like "conference realignment" (to give one example) in perspective.

But that said, I agree with OUGwave that it's time for Tulane to draw a line under the "Katrina era" and start measuring success by wins and championships.

That was a really tough time around here...Hardest semester and probably couple of years I've ever been through, and I didn't have half the responsibility that these athletes did. Can't wait to see the 2005 football team inducted into the hall of fame this fall.

I just wish my in laws would have gone back to Nawlins. I didn't mind providing them with a home for 3 mos, but liked them much better from a distance.
