If the AAC added one school who...
If the AAC added ONE school from the CUSA or Sun Belt, who would it be and why? (Not talking BYU or Boise State this time).

umass if anyone non-mwc is the question

from sunbelt and c-usa specifically? the answer is non at the moment but if i had to choose one from today..rice or usm on sentimental value and somewhat established brands with built in rivalries with a few current teams...utsa and odu are potentials but WAY down the line both have alot of growing to do

Since we already have 12 football schools and only 11 other sports, I'd vote for Wichita State or VCU.

VCU is better off in the A10...WSU would jump at the chance, and they would not only balance out the conference, but also add a solid hoops program, and decent media market.

I should have been more specific. Football needs to be included. So one vote for Rice, who else? By the way, UMass isn't in the CUSA or Sun Belt.

Rice doesn't get in even if Houston left.

NO ONE, The AAC does not need any more mediocrity.

We don't need to replace a public with a private. Rice is redundant with Tulane and SMU here. ODU has better basketball and football and they just started.

Georgia Southern. We need quality football and they have that. They're also in an area we haven't tapped.

Quality football is a thing of the past. Its TV markets now. Next addition is UMass.

UMass has no TV value. If they did, the MAC would not have forced the basketball issue while in the middle of TV negotiations. Other than Army, no team (other than MW schools or BYU) adds value. No Marshall. No Georgia Southern. No NIU. If we lose one, we carry on with 11 until somebody becomes valuable enough to add.

Frankly, if I were king of the AAC I'd add Wichita today as the 12th basketball school. They add more than they take. Its a marginal move, but it's the only team that would accept an invite that adds more than it takes....

What he said....

GA Southern has been playing at the top level of FCS for decades. The school has a football culture. They're no "UMASS"....People need to get over this "We deliver the XXX market" lie. Sometimes being a winner is more important than mythical TV markets a lot of schools in this conference tell themselves every night before they go to sleep (That love-poke was directed at half the schools in the AAC). If you play FBS football, and you have less than 30K sitting in the stands on a Saturday, no one is at home watching you on TV, I don't care how big of a city the school is located in or near. No one is watching....and down deep, you know its true. More importantly, ESPN and the rest of the TV Executives know it.

If GSU were in the AAC, they would finish middle of the pack their first year in the league. They're winners, have huge fan support and they're a Southern school. As a born and breed Yankee I can tell you there is no comparison between football in the Northeast and South....none.
