Huh?
USF (and UCF) recruit everywhere in the state...and have alumni all over the state.
USF has had billboards in the Orlando area in the past...as they've done also in other cities too.
Both programs need to break out of their "local" shell and targeting either recruits, alumni, fans in other cities, especially with much more cost effective digital billboards, these impressions, if only for a few days, can help.

How so? It doesn't mention USF at all. Its good marketing. The good people of Tampa are probably hungry for good college football. They can find it in Orlando.

UCF is a state university and Tampa is part of that state. Whats wrong with expanding your brand?
RE: The War on I4 just got a little more tangible.
Smack is good... Smack is fun. Rivalries are made of the stuff. As long as it is in good natured fun I think you earn the right on the field to do stuff like this. When people start thinking they are above talking smack because they are that much better that is where I have a problem. Be careful how much smack you talk because it all comes around eventually.

We can certainly visit each others high schools and recruit all we want... I doubt recruits really need to see a billboard to become aware of each others university. Is UCF putting up a similar billboard up in other Florida cities?
I see this as more from just sticking a finger in each others eye... probably to gin up more heat on the rivalry. Which is probably the real intent.
But hey, what do I know... just my 2 cents.

I think it should be on a digital billboard with the caption "Meanwhile in Tampa..."
You're kind of proving my point. This isn't recruiting, it's just smack. On a message board, fine. Major universities spending $$$ to put up smack billboards... again, seems a bit bush league.

Ha, now that's good smack talk. You're right man, you're right... but I hope the situation changes this season. Our camp reports are a bit of a mixed bag... can't wait for the actual games to see if we've come back at all. Defense looks good, if QF developes like some think, we could be improved quite a bit.

Perhaps Diaco needs to put up a billboard in Orlando!!!
UConn can put up a billboard like this in Orlando and just substitute the NYC graphic with a pic of Disney World and the Orlando skyline in the background:

Think you might be reading a little too much into it. Still a good billboard.

I am Probably wrong and just marketing to Tampa folks for ticket sales. That makes most sense.
I think its just a little slight to usf to add a little fire to the rivalry. Might help with recruiting a little trying to lure kids away from tampa, not that this would ever be a deciding factor. Kind of tells them don't stay here when you can drive down I-4 and compete for championships year in and year out.

Nobody outside of diehard UC fans had heard of Collaros and the kid took over the game.
Oh btw....everyone needs to notice the crowd at the game. No offense to UC, but this wasn't a blueblood opponent playing at RJS...yet USF had over 50,000 for that game at an OFF CAMPUS STADIUM.
Bottom line: if you win and feature an exciting style of play....people will come watch on or off campus.
....and yeah....that run really stings. You SUCK SuperFly'...

You may want to start with carrying Orlando....
BTW, back in the B.S. days (Before Skip) USF's TV numbers were second only to UF in the 7 county Tampa Bay are catchement. USF/WVU and a couple other primetime Thursday and Friday night games set ratings records at locally and at ESPN nationally.

Interesting how back when big east was a BCS conference, ESPN had USF listed. Now days, any chance they get, they put up S.Florida
It's BS, I do think ESPN works in any way possible to diminish AAC brands unless they get called out on it as UCF admin has done to them. I know a lot of you bulls fans will say you don't care about being referred to as south Florida...... But the S.Florida graphic looks ridiculous and hurts perception. ESPN knows what they are doing. It's time your admin calls them out on it.

I HATE YOU SKIP HOLTZ...
You put UCF or USF in the SEC, big 12, AAC, or big 10 and go up against marquee opponents every week...... I think we will see everyone will own their market. look at the ratings UCF pulled locally in Orlando for the fiesta bowl as well as when we played USCe in Orlando on ABC. Look at the Friday night Louisville game for local rating. We carry Orlando just fine as long as we don't play G5 teams and play more programs that have a name brand.
