RE: ASN Now In 94 Million Homes
We continue to have this same argument concerning ESPN..I just do not understand those for ESPN....Only explanation is you guys did not go through what we did in the Sun Belt for years concerning ESPN...Being regulated to ESPN 2 on a Tuesday night at 9 is not great, talking heads at HT not even mentioning your game besides score and then immediately jumping into the big upcoming games of the weekend is not great.....We were treated like an infomercial and ugly red headed step child...I had rather be on a channel like ASN that actually cares about their product and spends time doing stories about your schools, history, conference, etc then be an infomercial for SEC game of the week....LIke others have said if we signed with ESPN, 3/4ths of games will be on ESPN 3....NOt sure about others but I like the ability to record games, pause, rewind live TV vs squinting on a laptop screen..Just no argument not even close on what is better....We are not getting ESPN Sat. nights, not even on ESPNU, ESPN is SEC period, anyone else is filler for them to talk more about Ohio St. and SEC...

Great, we can split $12 thirteen ways. And if no one is watching the games (see ratings), then the teams aren't getting the exposure you're talking about.

You're right, nobody is watching the games. ASN took the numbers to the cable networks, they looked at them and said "nobody is watching the games? GREAT, sign us up"

And that is the story of how ASN improved their distribution by more than double through syndicated networks. 01-wingedeagle

Year 1 was proving the concept. Clearly it went well enough for other networks to see value in it. If they didn't, they would have told Sinclair to **** off.

Don't mind WIowl. He's a Parliamentarian. It's disappointing, but 75% of us over there loathe CUSA. I'm not among them. They don't want to hear any positive developments coming out of the conference, and when they do, they scoff at it.

RE: ASN Now In 94 Million Homes
The concern in Texas with Sinclair is not without merit. There are only three stations in Texas - two in the San Antonio market and one in El Paso.

If you are in DFW or Houston, you have no OTA option though you should see much more option for streaming. There are also some providers that deliver Sinclair stations such as Time Warner in Dallas. To get to 94 million, I have to assume they are adding additional providers, but it's not clear to me if Verizon will be one of those. Verizon and Sinclair parted ways in 2011 due to contract disputes.

The truth of the matter is people always look at things through their own personal little microscope. If ASN can actually pull off what they planning then this is an extremely good partnership for the league. That cannot be disputed even if your carrier in your location doesn't carry the feed. If you find yourself in this situation I encourage you to look at different cable providers or satellite if you are really concerned about this and really want to see C-USA games or wait out to see the depth of streaming this year.

I think a couple of games were on CSN Houston. Hopefully ASN has signed a deal with the "new" Root Sports Southwest.

MASN, a sports network featured on the DirecTV sports package, picked up a ton of the Marshall ASN stuff last year. I think it is a very smart idea for ASN to distribute these games as many ways as possible (OTA, partner with regional satalite/cable sports networks, and stream them). They may even add their own cable channel. Until then, many of the regional sports networks are starved for live content with the P5 conferences creating their own networks.

ASN may really be onto something, IMO. FSNOhio, ROOT, and MASN LOVE having a Marshall game. ASN may be able to deal the Marshall content it gets (that Fox doesn't take off the top) and make a little money back before it even sells ads by going to a regional sports network.

If you live in Dalllas (5th largest tv market in the US) and were on FioS or cable last year you didn't see these ASN games because they weren't broadcast on a local station nor were they streamed on ASN. If ASN would at least online stream their games then people who live in the "boonies" wouldn't be the only ones who can watch ASN stations.

The North Texas ASN games were aired on Channel 21 in Dallas last season. The main problem was they would not air the UNT games until the ACC game was over. Contractual agreements and such. Now, the other ASN games were not available in Dallas. Hopefully both issues will be corrected this season.

RE: ASN Now In 94 Million Homes
I would much rather the conference stick with ASN than be relegated to ESPN3 IF it allows me to see the games. Last year, only two of the 30 Conference USA games were shown locally here in Hattiesburg and maybe 5 of the games were streamed online. I have not been given any assurances that things will be better this season and we are less than 40 days away from kickoff. I don't care if the games are on a .2 or .3 channel, I just want to be able to watch C-USA football. If I live in a C-USA town and have no access to the ASN C-USA games, then obviously ESPN3 would be better for me and everyone else who just want to see the games. Game availability trumps everything for me.

Just online stream the games and all of these accessibility issues are SOLVED- EVERYBODY can watch the games then. This is not rocket science.

Do you have proof that streaming will be available this season?

I do not want to watch CUSA games on ESPN3 on Tuesday and Wednesday nights. If you want your program regulated to that type of viewing you should urge your AD/Pres to get your program in another G5 conference that show games on that network.

Not everyone has uncapped high speed internet from which to stream the games. For those fans, a strong network of cable, satellite, or over the air stations is the best answer.

LOL. When you have teen aged kids you quickly realize this is not an option, no matter how much bw and boost you purchase.
