120 - Rice (61)
146 - UAB (70)
291 - UTSA (112)
605 - FIU (179)
625 - La Tech (184)
656 - ODU (191)
778 - UNT (209)
794 - Charlotte (212)
856 - FAU (221)
901 - Southern Miss (225)
929 - UTEP (228)

*The rest of C-USA didn't make the list.

UTSA is a young university (as are UAB, FIU, and FAU btw), and I'm just happy to see us moving up the ladder year by year. Our school has really started pushing academics the last few years and has set Tier One as a goal. Having a 100% graduation rate in our football program last year is a further indication of it.

Apparently you don't need to be a Tier One University. LA Tech already is a Tier One national university, and UTSA still managed to rank ahead of us. Congrats!

RE: 2015 World University Rankings
If you're talking about the old Carnegie tiers, those got replaced by a new system based on the number and type of advanced degrees awarded, as well as research expenditures.

The new(ish) system is divided by institution type. For FBS institutions, excluding the service academies, it goes:

Masters institution/ small - M/S
Masters institution/ medium - M/M
Masters institution/ large - M/L
------------------
Doctoral/Research University - DRU
Research University/ high research activity - R/H
Research University/ very high research activity - R/VH

For CUSA:

Charlotte - DRU
FAU - RU/H
FIU - RU/H
LaTech - RU/H
Marshall - M/L
MTSU - DRU
North Texas - RU/H
ODU - RU/H
Rice - RU/VH
Southern Miss - RU/H
UAB - RU/VH
UTEP - RU/H
UTSA - RU/H
WKU - M/L

Good lord. No. We're all referring to the U.S News and World Report academic classifications and rankings. It's been the Bible of academia for several years now, at least as far as public rankings go.
