One of the biggest differences I have seen in home entertainment is being driven by Google Fiber. Since it was announced that they are coming to Charlotte, Time Warner has announced increased speeds on internet to 300Mbs from a max of around 50Mbs at no additional cost. Technology advancement because of competition will do more to drive lower prices and better entertainment than anything else. These mergers take away competition, but create companies large enough to develop a more sophisticated infrastructure. So I like and dislike the mergers.
