Boise will win the MWC every year. That will cause a lack of interest from outside and inside the MWC.

The American will never be perceived as a big time football conference. Our schools will take decades to become brand name football schools. The only realistic chance at success is to have decent football but try to get basketball to be perceived as elite. Like top 3 conferences level elite.
We need a team or two to have undefeated type seasons and do what Boise has done. That will help. It's a good conference but we need some undefeated teams to move up. It's hard to do.
For ECU:
Football do what we know we can, win the big games and learn to not lose the stupid games.
Basketball just get an NIT invite and play better teams for RPI. Just be respectable for league image.
Baseball is and will be big again for us. That is easy to see. We will be one of the best in the league year in and year out.

Even if so, this conference will never make more than a small fraction of what a P5 makes.
But we're the FRACKIN' "The American" damn it. We have the entire sports world abuzz. Just wait until we get that contract raise from ESPN. Maybe 2.6 M --- maybe 2.9 or wait for it ----- 3! Who's laughing then? Ummmmmm?

i know better than to see an entire conference rising to the old money table. WAC in 90's, CUSA in early 2000's and the MWC most recently. All 3 good leagues that were deserving to be there but not allowed in the club. But, Utah, Louisville and TCU are proof you can get pulled up into the country club. I want ECU to be the Boise of the AAC for the next 5 or so years. Access bowl a couple times, 60k (after stadium expansion) a game for football is not far fetched. If and after that happens ECU will get the call up. Other than BYU, there hasn't been a non p5 program with our football attendance year in and year out for the past 2 plus decades. That can't be denied or overlooked. Keep going to the games, expand the stadium. We fans can control that. Cheers!

RE: AAC 6th Most Valuable Conference
The old MWC was better than the ACC for years in FB. It had to be destroyed and ESpN made it happen.
First move Utah to the PAC.
Then move TCU to the Big East.
Well, that did not work because those teams were replaced by BSU and UNR who was impressive with Kaepernik at QB.
So we needed to get BYU to move to Indy, and ESpN made that happen, all but guaranteeing the death of any idea that the MWC could enter into the BCS.
They BSU and the MWC combined for just about every at-large BCS berth and won all but the Game in which Hawaii participated.
Just ESPN protecting their product, the ACC from losing their privilege to some Conference out West.
Could the AAC doe something like the old MWC, sure, but it will take years. And since the AAC doesn't get an Access Spot into the CFB playoffs it doesn't mean the same as when you beat a BCS team. If you conference thinks it will outperform the ACC or another ESPN property, it is then doomed. So we all stay ready to get a new home.

If we could just get the MWC bowls and the BE tv deal along with our NCAA tournament money then we would be somewhere.

Have you been paying attention to ESPN? We will do good to get 4.

It's a graphic about valuable conferences, why would they be?

Right, we're 1/64th of an inch taller than the Big East or MWC.

^LOL Yep, yet somehow, something tells me that if the AAC was 1/64 shorter, the reactions here would be markedly different.

FIFY since that is what the P5 consider that bowl to be.

Don't think it includes exit fees and the selling of the Big East rights. Hopefully those bonuses will keep us further ahead until the TV contract can get to $6mm+.

The P5 call it the Pity Bowl, therefore it is the Pity Bowl.

I think so too. We are already farther ahead of them than the graph indicates, because it only measures money. Vitally important TV exposure, where the AAC is well ahead, isn't shown.
