Yeah, not huge . . . But every little bit helps . . Especially for those programs struggling with the "Where the hell we gonna get the money to cover this?" Dilemma

I am curious how the few non-football schools in D-1 like uta will pay and how much..

Great. Now all we need to come up with is the other $1,445,000 for next year. I'll pass the hat.03-lmfao

The money is small but it may be significant that they feel the need to help.

RE: NCAA to give money to schools for COA
As much as it pains me to say it I'd rather the COA come from the NCAA than have the universities scrounging around for ways to come up w/the money. Not that I trust the NCAA implicitly, but because of the notion of public scrutiny it should be easier to follow the money trail through them rather than through potentially shady deals w/private donors, thousand-dollar handshakes, etc.

I get that this 'installment' is only $55K per school and that is merely a drop in the bucket as the bigger picture for COA goes, but at least there is an equal distribution.

Doubt Fran would just "put that out there" without the AD having let him know that we were going to "Pay the Piper."

"Exactly" when Larry came to the conclusion . . . I couldn't really say.

But seriously, What Coach is going to commit a University to paying COA without the AD/Athletic Department giving their prior Okey Dokey?

Conversation could have gone as follows:

Fran: "Hey Larry, Are we gonna pay COA?"

Larry: "Damn good question." "I don't really know." "How bout you let me crunch some numbers."

Fran: "You know Lar, we've got SBC Media Day coming up, and I sure would like to have some news to break."

Larry: "I hear ya, but I've gotta make sure we can cover that cost." "I mean, where's the money gonna come from, my raises the last two years? Ha Ha . . eeeerr strike that."

Fran: "Come on Lar, Give me something."

Larry: "Well, it looks like the NCAA is gonna help a bit, and I guess we can get the rest through donations, you know, to the Bobcat Club." OK Fran, I'll give COA my official Larry Okey Dokey."

Fran: "Thanks Lar, that's just swell."

And the rest is History . . . .

Sorry, I was trying to point out how Larry is quick to say stupid stuff... But when good news (like us stating we will pay COA), he sits silent.

I was unclear in my post.

I see in todays paper that texas tech will give the most of any b12 school..while wva gives the least, about 1/3 as much. how could the cost of doing things be that much different. and tcu giving 3 times more than smu 35 miles away..you must need a philadelphia lawyer to figure these things out.

I sense sarcasm. You don't think Alabama and Auburn will keep things honest? 03-drunk

Heh... just a few days ago Alabama was STUNNED... just STUNNED to find out that all this time they were oh-so-wrong in thinking their COA was near the bottom of the SEC when it is actually NUMBER THREE in the nation!

Naw... nuthin' to see here! 03-shhhh
