RE: Keatts Gets Contract Extention...
IMO, it's a great thing. It's not an absurd number of years or money. It does though, protect us a little more if Keatts success continues (no reason to believe it won't) and the big schools come calling. If I'm not mistaken, it would increase the total of the buyout necessary to leave. In that case, it's a win/win and a smart business move by Bass while rewarding Keatts for a job well done.

Also, congrats to the women's Coach Harris on her extension as well.

It's good to be picking ourselves up from "rock bottom" these days.

RE: Keatts Gets Contract Extention...
I'm sorry but i'll fill the roll of Debbie Downer here, this is SILLY! Did he(Bass) not learn from the Buzz debacle? You need a bigger sample size to judge before giving an extension.

Now let me say i do think Keatts is going to do great things here, but, i don't think this was the time for this. Let's see next year before doing something like this.

I think Jimmy Bass is all-in on Keatts. If Keatts turns into another Buzz Peterson, they both will be shown the door. If Keatts takes the program places we think he will, then they will both prosper.

In for a penny, in for a pound!

You gotta pick your horse and run with him.

This is Bass' first chance to hire a head coach and he is going all in on him. I Don't blame him for it and after year 1 it paid off. This program needs some stability too and it is always best when the AD has his guy in as coach.

I don't think it matters that much for Keatts but Harris?

He still gave him an extension after one decent year. Look i'm with the majority i think Keatts will continue to do great things. But i don't agree with the extension this early.

I agree 100% that he does not deserve a contract extension and has nothing to base it on but that is how Bass does things. If he does not win they both get fired and if he does win he will leave.I think he is here for 2 years either way unless he wins big time and gets a decent job in a better conference. He has some good talent and the CAA is way down from years past and that makes me think he will win.

Wasnt buzz's extension mutiyear? This keatts extension basically started the clock over after 1 year. No biggie. We need stability and hopefully a better buyout

Keatts just had a much larger school come knocking for an interview, and he turned them down. You have to bet the odds here. Is it more likely he was a one year wonder, or that he will sustain success. We're betting on his success.

I get all this, but we made the same bet on Buzz and it didn't work out!!!

It is a gamble, and the thing that concerns me is Bass didn't learn from his last mistake.

I do think Keatts will be successful but i just don't think you extend someone after year 1!

I was wondering the same thing Mullet. I've been moving, on vacation, etc... but I don't recall that either and a QUICK google search didn't give me anything either.
