I guess different stroke for different folks but I never understood his popularity...I could not stand to listen to him for more than about 5 minutes, just seemed to grate on my nerves. He is nothing more than a shock jock trying to get a rise out of people.

RE: Not AAC Related: Colin Cowherd - Boom out at ESPN
He has said on air weeks ago that he was going to be living in the LA area...and admitted going out there for non-ESPN Business.

He is trying to expand his brand (maybe one day end up on CNN or MSNBC) with a lot more political/societal commentary...plus, he is trying to sell network shows to those in Hollywood (his show last year did not sell/get picked up).

His opinions aren't necessarily my beef with him, I just can't stand listening to him...his voice is annoying.

Was he let go or is he leaving for more money? Also, why is this "boom"?

Fire away ESPN...you clearly overpaid for conference rights like sec, big 12, and acc.

More of he tried to always act like the smartest man in the room. I never listened to him long enough to care, he may be...but I am glad someone else is getting a shot at his time slot.

All this news about espn firing and cutting costs leads me to think no expansion right now. The last thing espn wants to do is pay even more for conference tv rights. The Big 12 commissioner is delusional if he thinks $40 million per team is coming.

He is headed to Fox Sports (hence the move out to LA).

He is a west coast guy at heart. Born in raised in the Seattle area and he cut his teeth in broadcasting out there. He has admitted to being a big USC fan in the past.

"... A person with knowledge of the negotiations said ESPN "bid aggressively" to keep Cowherd -- a notable point because the network is looking to cost cuts where possible."

The boom was because it is one more talking heading leaving ESPN. Now if they can just get rid of Skip, Woody and Steven A., then I might be able to actually listen to some of the stuff that those people say.

Never liked the man. His shtick of being pretentious got very old fast and the final straw came when he blamed the Sandusky scandal on Christianity.

As much as I do like Skip and Stephen A's banter on some subjects you kind of know how each item will play out--you are only awaiting their voiced opinion to make it entertaining. Personally, when they have been on vacation from the show and have other people there it is actually more meaty and better.

I'm actually a bigger fan of His and Hers but ....lets be real... that show feels like they made a token slot for two popular black personalities in a time slot that isn't prime time while white personalities are filling in more and more on their prime time shows. That said, I find their show a lot better than most on ESPN. Pardon the Interruption is passable for entertainment. About the only other one I like is Around the Horn.

Didn't you want ESPN to overpay for the AAC as well?

Jemelle Hill is popular? I just think they have her under contract but can't figure out what to do with her.

Cowherd put his house on the market a few months ago, I was going to tag sales with my wife a few weeks ago and his wife was running one out of the garage.

I like Cowherd. I'll find him wherever he goes.

Now, Freddie Coleman deserves a move up IMO.
