RE: Preseason CUSA Media picks are in
Doesn't look unreasonable, I certainly hope we finish higher than 6th in the east but most feel the FL schools will be improved and we just slipped past them last year.

I'm not ready to crown WKU yet but I'm sure they're going to put up some points. MU and MT could also win the east.

Also a toss up for me in the west LT or Rice are probable, with UTEP possible (I would have put UAB here too, so sad).

But you know there's going to be some surprises. I think what's going to happen will be all the expected leaders will drop a game or two and there's a full on battle royal for both divisions. Not what's best for us as a conference and certainly not for access bowl chances but it would exciting.

They missed big on La Tech, North Texas, UAB, and UTEP. Who will it be this year?

Wow I had forgotten how off those picks were last season....Will definitely be surprised both ways, cannot wait to see it..

Looks about right to me. WKU and LaTech should be the favorites until proven otherwise. Agree with all I see, other than I think FIU will outshine FAU this year.

WKU may very well be the best team in conference, but I don't see them going better then 3-1 out of conference with a loss to LSU. I don't see them doing better then 6-2 in conference with losses to (Rice, LT, MTSU, or Marshall). Marshall avoids LT and Rice, so I just don't see how they win the East.

This is always my biggest fear.

It's never easy being on top. All the other teams want revenge for the previous year.

Vegas as installed Marshall as a double digit favorite in every game. Phil Steele said his model shows Marshall as a favorite in every game, but also picked the Herd 2nd. I really look forward to Marshall pulling off the 12-0 (8-0 C-USA) second place season that everyone in the media is predicting this year.

I'm happy they picked WKU. Our team feeds off those kinds of things.

Here is my 2015 PREDICTED ORDER OF FINISH

WEST DIVISION
1. LA Tech
2. Rice
3. UTEP
4. North Texas
5. Southern Miss
6. UTSA

EAST DIVISION
1. Marshall -Champions
2. WKU
3. Middle Tennessee
4. Florida Atlantic
5. Old Dominion
6. FIU
7. Charlotte

I believe Marshall may end up being the only team to finish their OOC schedule with a winning record. They play a weak OOC schedule again.

WKU should win he league based on who they have back, QB is player of the year; plus they get Marshall at home on their Senior Day. If they don't win the league, I'll be totally shocked.

Agreed. It's been a long dead period. One thing is for sure though: CUSA is a strong league this year. Just worried all the teams beating each other up in conference will not reflect just how strong we are.

This will always be an issue. Hopefully we can score some P5 upsets early to counter that issue. WKU plays Vandy, Marshall plays Purdue and Tech plays K-state. There are some very good opportunities to win some good OOC games.

Don't forget Southern Miss plays Miss St to open up the year. We got skull drug last year but maybe we'll shock the world!

*wishful thinking

All things being equal, Marshall should win the East based on their schedule. If I did not know better, I would think that the Marshall AD was setting the CUSA league schedule.
WKU is the only East team that does not face Charlotte.
The not in common league opponents for the two teams are:
WKU - Rice, La Tech
MU - USM, Charlotte
If Marshall does not win the East with that schedule, they should be ashamed.

I don't watch College Football, and I especially won't this year (For obvious reasons), but I think the standings will look something like this:

East:
1) WKU
2) MTSU
3) Marshall
4) FAU
5) ODU
6) FIU
7) Charlotte

West:
1) La Tech
T2) Southern Miss
T2) Rice
4) UNT
5) UTEP
6) UTSA

These predictions are based off nothing. Absolutely nothing.

Yes media picks sorry, coaches do not have a CUSA preseason poll do they?

Let the Bashing from Marshall fans ensue:

How dare the media!

C-USA MEDIA MEMBERS PREDICTED ORDER OF FINISH

EAST DIVISION
1. WKU
2. Marshall
3. Middle Tennessee
4. Florida Atlantic
5. FIU
6. Old Dominion
7. Charlotte

WEST DIVISION
1. Louisiana Tech
2. Rice
3. UTEP
4. Southern Miss
5. North Texas
6. UTSA

Looks about right to me, but we all know end of season will be completely different, would be fun to look at last seasons preseason coaches poll compared to final standings...Only difference I would have would be FIU 3rd, FAU 4th and MTSU 5th, other than that hard to argue with media's preseason view of how CUSA will shake out..

Why do you always have to start and have an agenda against Marshall fans? Is it because we had a legitimate shot at the unicorn called an undefeated season and had a legitimate too 25 team, and said we did because we were being realistic?

Get off it man. I have said, along with most MU fans that WKU is the team to beat this season and should be picked 1st preseason.

Guess I'm not the only one...

------------------------------

First, the schedule. The Hilltoppers host Louisiana Tech on Thursday, Sept. 10, playing on a five-day turnaround after opening at Vanderbilt. They face a trip to Rice in early October. (Marshall gets North Texas and Southern Mississippi in cross-division games.)

And in the worst insult, WKU does not get the chance to score 94 on the Charlotte 49ers, as the other East teams do.

But that’s not the Hilltoppers’ biggest problem. This is: Every so often, the other team gets the ball.

WKU’s defense can make the big, game-changing play (see: four interceptions of Rakeem Cato). But most of the big plays in 2014 came from the opposing offenses, who averaged 509 total yards and 39.9 points per game.

Most of the defense returns, including the man with one of the coolest names, Wonderful Terry. Nick Holt, a one-time Idaho head coach and former Pac-12 coordinator, is in his third year in charge of the WKU defense and should fully have his imprint on that defense.

Fine, but it says here the Hilltoppers will still give up 35-plus a game. And it says here they will enter the Marshall game no better than 5-2 in the league, maybe 4-3.

And it says here that the Herd will head to Bowling Green, Kentucky, with a lead in the standings. Will it be one game, or two?

Well, there has been a change to the Tops" schedule. Now that the Vandy game has been moved to Thursday night, we will have a full week to prepare for La Tech.
