Quote:Cincinnati adds Eliel Nsoseme to class of 2017
Despite playing for Jerry Stackhouse’s AAU program, there is not much public knowledge on Nsoseme. There has been precedent for players such as Nsoseme, who seemingly exist in very few places except for their current program, and their fortunes when it comes to NCAA eligibility have not been strong. Whether or not he can get cleared for the 2017 season remains to be seen, but the Bearcats would be smitten with the athleticism that he brings to the table.
Nsoseme becomes the second member of the 2017 Bearcats recruiting class, in addition to shooting guard Trevor Moore from Houston, Texas. Coming into the program this season is three-star center Nysier Brooks from Philadelphia, who will presumably compete alongside Nsoseme for playing time in the frontcourt upon his arrival in 2017.
A year after going 22-11 in Cronin’s first season back at the helm full-time, the Bearcats will look to avenge their first-round loss in the NCAA Tournament to the No. 9 seeded St. Joseph’s Hawks.
Tied for third-place in the AAC last year, Cincinnati will compete against Temple and SMU, the two programs that finished in front of them in the standings. The Owls are replacing the conference’s Player of the Year in DeAndre Bembry and the Mustangs will go at it this season without Hall of Fame head coach Larry Brown, who resigned this offseason and was banned from postseason play.
Nice reporting, ha, Bembry played for St. Joe's, not Temple.

He should've been at Temple, but Dunphy couldn't close a door.

They still have a couple guys on their radar, right? Any chance of signing more than one?

I live in Portland, and initially joined everyone else in making fun of Fat Head's when they opened up shop here last year. Not anymore. They're making as good of beer - especially on the west coast IPA side of things - as any brewery here in PDX.

Espn reporting we are on the list for transfer Issac Copeland from Gtown. He was a big timer coming out of hschool, 5 star. Think he has 2 years left but would sit out next year. Definitely worth a look, but Az, Uconn..others involved.[/u]

At this point UConn doesn't look like a prime destination.

Odd timing right? Is he one of those guys that could start in the winter semester next season?

sounds like he'd have two eligible years (starting next year?) if he gets a medical hardship:
Quote:Isaac Copeland, a 6-9 junior forward, has left Georgetown and has a list of KU, Arizona, Arizona State, Cincinnati, Illinois, North Carolina State, Nebraska, and UConn.
He will likely have back surgery and will be applying for a medical hardship according to Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports. If the hardship is granted, he’d have two years of eligibility remaining.
Read more here: http://www.kansascity.com/sports/college...rylink=cpy
Also from the link, I kinda doubt we'd still have interest, but who knows:
Quote:Kansas junior Evan Maxwell, a 6-foot-10 transfer , has decided to leave the program, coach Bill Self announced Saturday.
Maxwell, who is from Clarks Summit, Penn., signed with KU in May of 2016 following a two-year stint at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va.
According to NCAA transfer rules, Maxwell was able to practice but not play in games during the 2016-17 season.
“We were all excited when Evan committed and we all had high expectations for him,” Self said in a release. “This semester did not go the way Evan had anticipated. We support his decision to take some time away to figure out what he wants to do moving forward. He’s a tremendous young man and we wish him nothing but the best.”
Maxwell — he chose KU as a transfer destination over Virginia Tech, Baylor, Arizona and Cincinnati — did not say in the release if he would be transferring to play basketball at another Div. I school.
“I’d like to thank Coach Self, the other coaches and staff, and especially my teammates, for allowing me to be a part of such a great program,” Maxwell said in a release. “I just don’t think it was the right time for me and this will allow me to focus more on my future.”
Maxwell, who had been slated to return to Lawrence from break on Jan. 5 (as a red-shirt player he was allowed additional time home for the holidays), averaged 10.0 points and 4.8 rebounds a game his sophomore season at Liberty. He hit 63.6 percent of his shots in 2015-16. As a freshman in 2014-15, Maxwell averaged 6.0 minutes, 2.1 points and 1.1 rebounds in 29 games.

Georgetown transfer Isaac Copeland will visit Nebraska today, per a source. Visited NC State last night.

Speaking of transfers...with the turnstile environment at UNC-Asheville these past couple of years (Andrew Rowsey to Marquette in '15 and Dylan Smith, Arizona and Dwayne Sutton, Louisville in '16), why in the hell didn't we ever look at a guy like MaCio Teague? From Cincinnati (Walnut Hills), very good shooter (47/44/85 clip right now with a 17.4 ppg) and facilitator and an incredibly smart kid as well...could be another transfer this coming fall.

Our guard rotation next year will be very young but offensively I think we will have
great scoring potential in Cumberland, Broome, Jennifer, plus freshmen Moore and Williams.

RE: BB Class of 2017
So with all the great national coverage UC is now beginning to earn this season do we foresee getting in with a recruit where UC was not previously on his radar? Does Mick have a scholarship to give in such a case?
Just curious how quickly (if at all) the higher profile for the program might translate into more interest from some blue chippers who weren't paying attention before.
