Tennessee is kinda a boring opponent. I hope we get to play a team we have more history with in the cotton bowl like Texas or Notre Dame.

if Tennessee gets in theyd be a top 7 team ..a top 7 Tennessee isn't boring

Tennessee is 4-4 vs ND and 1-2 vs Texas. Lol. I hate em but it is what it is.

What's Boise look like this year? I still think they are the prime threat for the NYE/NYD bowl.

they return literally everyone including the 4star qb who was a true freshman last year

the opinion on boise is mixed...a mixture of them returning everyone and destroying NIU 55-7 in the bowl game has some saying they are the access favorites and some even saying playoff contenders

including bill c from sbnation and these guys
http://espn.go.com/college-football/insi...-contender

but the general opinion is if you look at the whole picture most don't think niu was that good of a team to begin with and their top 2 qbs were injured and in their last 7 games boise lost badly to every respectable team not named niu
so many view it as them are bringing back a whole lot of mediocre

their offense has shown they can score ridiculous amount of points on bad defenses but has yet to prove itself verses talent

most are calling top 2 in the mwc but not in the national picture

Boise doesn't return "literally everyone." They lose pretty much their entire defensive line their best run stopping safety and best cover corner. They also lost their two coordinators. If they couldn't stop Air Force and New Mexico from running all over them last year it's going to be even worse this year.

Their offense should put up a lot of points though...

SMU and Tulsa can put up a lot of points too. We all know how they did last year.

Not bad! Except there was a typo omitting ECU. St Pete.

If USF is bowl eligible and not in the Cotton Bowl, then the Bulls are going to St Pete this year. The St Pete bowl wants USF this year...very bad.

There was heavy rumors floating that NIU team quit on the offensive coaching staff for that game,i wouldn't put too much stock in boise's performance there

Any particular reason other than to bolster attendance? If there is a P5 opponent there SPB is fine with me. I'd fly back for the game. I know everyone thinks it's awful (I've never been), but I was at Miami and the baseball stadium there worked out just fine. Of course, it's beautiful and brand new... I'd like to attend SP, just to compare though...

#1. USF hasn't played in the St Pete bowl in a VERY long time...believe 2008 season was last time
#2. Bolster attendance
#3. USF already played in Miami last year, so that bowl is out. The other option is the Cure, but that bowl will probably go unfilled again by AAC.
#4. St. Pete bowl director used to work at USF for several years before becoming the bowl director.
#5. USF would most likely want to play here with the ACC opponent.

Those are some reasons off the top of my head.

I hope Houston plays Tennessee and hangs 70 on them! I wish VT could do that but I won't hold my breath.

I agree. Unless USF wins the conference and the Access Bowl bid then St Pete vs an ACC team is the best deal.
