RE: Congrats to UCONN : grabs a 5-star commitment in PG Alterique Gilbert
UConn fans are calling this the Summer of Ollie.
Every week seems to have a new recruit.
PF Shonn Miller (grad transfer Cornell)
PG Sterling Gibbs (grad transfer Seton Hall)
PF-C Mamadou Diarra (New York City, top 100, underrated)
SF Terry Larrier (frosh transfer VCU, from NYC, 2015 top 50 4-5 star)
PG Alterique Gilbert (Georgia, 2016 top 25)
5 kids in about a month.
UConn is about to close out 2016 recruiting with 2 more players it is heavy on.
Top 25 SG Hamidou Diallo (New York City, best friends with Diarra, same school)
Top 50-75 SF Brendan Bailey (Utah, Thurl Bailey's kid, battling it out with Gonzaga and Arizona)
After that, UConn does have a scholarship if there's a late developing big man out there who wouldn't mind sitting a year behind their upper class big man (Brimah).
So far, Ollie has shown that he is a lights out recruiter.

Congrats UConn and UConn fans.
Great commitment.
Memphis could certainly use a signee like him.

If I was a young recruit, I'd run through a brick wall to play for Ollie. His success is understandable.

The fact that Uconn isnt in the ACC is still one of the great mystery's to me. They should kick out Boston College just to get Uconn... though I do love having them with us.

Yep, good job UConn.
That said, I think we'll be solid with Johnson and Tarrant running point...Nichols, Goodwin, and the Lawson's down low.

The "football" schools (Miami, FSU, GT, Clemson) didn't want us.

UC's 2016 basketball class is sitting at #7 nationally right now on 247. Granted, long way to go, but we aren't done yet either.
Nice to see some big time kids coming in for multiple teams...will make the conference games more fun to watch.

He'll be down to 3 stars now that he's committed to UConn. If he committed to Duke or Kentucky he'd be upgraded to 5 stars. That's how it seems to work.
