We have been longtime rivals, well over 100 years. We fought them tough for many years and when we de-emphasized athletics we fell to the back seat. We are still there. We did have a comeback in the 70's and early 80's but we have not tasted victory since them.

We soundly defeated LSU 24-13 in 1979. We smoked LSU 48-7 in 1981 & we beat LSU (ranked 7th & Orange Bowl Champions), 31-28 in 1982.
In 1984 the combination of our basketball team caught in a point shaving scandal & a very loose oversight within the football & basketball programs led to a decline in support for athletics within the university administration which we haven't recovered from to this very day.

Our annual contest used to be one of the biggest, if not biggest, rivalries in college football.

Tennessee, but since we are apparently not worthy enough (in their eyes) to play them, the title moves to Ole Miss
