Yes keep your eyes open for sharks because you can definitely see them right before you get bit, LOL. Growing up 1/4 mile from the ocean I have seen a lot of sharks. You can't avoid them if you want to get in the water. Best advice,get out if you see a school of bait fish. Most of the time a shark mistakes a limb for a fish, it's that simple.

Cape Cod, Nantucket, and Martha's Vineyard have great whites, especially near Chatham. The seal population has exploded which draws the sharks.

"Jaws" was filmed up there.

And watch out for her too

So far they have only bitten tourists, so the locals need not worry.
