How much $ are you looking to spend and are you wanting to be close to the jacks beach area or does it matter?

The Four Points by Sheraton is at a great central spot. The beach is great, lots of food and they have events in the area for the weekend.

$ isn't a concern but yes, a high rise hotel ocean view is preferable 04-cheers

Four Points is your spot. It has good reviews, not crazy expensive and right on the beach.

The Casa Marina is really nice as well, more quaint. Its just north of the center of jacks beach.

St. Augustine is a trip in and of it's self. Do they still run the Pontoon Plain in St. Augustine? I remember taking the tour with my family. It was a lot of fun and the guide new a lot about the history of the place. Got to stay at one of the many Bed-and-Breakfasts. It's more of a wholesome environment. Also the wife loved the shops. 04-cheers

P.S. For in state residents, you can find it in the "One Tank Trip Guides".

Have a great time, we too are on our way to FL from NC. We are going back to Orlando to be "tourists" at one of those time share deals so we can get the free cruise. It looks like a nice resort we will never buy from. But hey, I will smile as I take the tour and collect my free cruise vouchers at the end.

Different atmosphere, St Aug is full of history, beautiful and family friendly. Everything closes early at night, so if you and the misses are looking for a date night it will end early.

I would choose it over Jax but I would live in Jax beach area over st aug for the atmosphere.

I was just up to Jacksonville last weekend celebrating a family wedding. We had brunch at the Casa Marina and it was truly outstanding. It's an older hotel but very well maintained. Parking was a little bit of an issue, we had to park at the 7th street beach access (one block north). If you do stay at the Sheraton, I would highly recommend swinging by the brunch at Casa Marina about $26.95 per person but definitely 5-star cousine.

Love Casa Marina. Ponte Vedra, just south of Jax beach has some really nice hotels.

I second those comments on the brunch.
