Clark didn't mention potential scrimmages in 2016. Could those be against non-NCAA teams? I just assumed they would be intrasquad matches.

I think you can play a non-NCAA slate based on some of the comments in the release and stories.

That seems tricky. Clark was part of the USA program when they did that, but USA was an unclassified program at the time. It seems that would make UAB's status as an FBS program murkier and might require them going through the FCS transition.

I don't think it is an issue. If they do not play an FBS or FCS compliant schedule while on pause don't see that being held against them.

The NCAA and CUSA have told UAB they would be an FBS and conference member with all the things that go with that in 2017.

Dang dude, it's in English that UAB will be in the FBS from the NCAA. Do you need to read it in Spanish, Dutch, French, or Russian???

Stadium is a definite need but practice field and operations building have to come first.

I know I've been run off another board for mentioning such things, but now that you guys will be without football for a couple years I wanted to know if the thought has changed. If the city of Hoover offered a revised Hoover-Met, how would you feel about playing there for a couple years???

Too far away, too small capacity, and it doesn't have some required C-USA media & football broadcast features. It would only be considered if Legion Field collapsed tomorrow (not completely out of the realm of possibility, I suppose).

Dejame ayudar. El NCAA dijo que UAB van a jugar, en 2017, en la clasificación FBS en futbol americano. Estudie ruso, y hablo un poco, pero no tengo teclas en el idioma ruso, lo lamento.

I wasn't doubting that UAB will remain FBS, only suggesting that playing a non-classified schedule might be problematic because of that status. I think, perhaps, you were looking for a slight where none was meant.

I know when we played our first season, prep schools, it didn't count towards eligibility. They should schedule something like that, get some game experience.

I listened to the Clark interview, and he didn't bring it up. The interviewer did.

While he didn't come right out and say so, I got the distinct vibe that Clark wasn't crazy about the idea.

Wonder if he's been told that he can't play football until '17 by the powers that be. Hard to raise money with nothing on the field.

If financial goals are not met, wonder at what point they will pull the plug again???

Lots of unknowns still surround that program.

For you guys, the actual fans of the program, I hope that the further the UA BoT gets away from Bryant's retirement, the better support you guys get from the BoT. There is still so much potential in the BHM area that UAb has not been able to capitalize on.

Bryant rotates off the board in September, which I think is when his influence will begin to wain. He's still got his thumb in a lot of BoT pies, but he's also an old man with reputedly unhealthy habits.

If you think he'll just go away because he's no longer on the board, I'd like to introduce you to Drummond, Gary Neale.

If there's a bright side, the #freeuab movement shook them up pretty good. They might just tread lightly for a while.

RE: UAb update, cause what else we gonna talk about
We are now two weeks into August, and still no new contract for Bill Clark.

http://www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2015/...cart_river

And UAb is now wanting donations that were pledged to be paid in Jan 1, they want that money now. Changes like this could make it hard for all the pledged donors to fulfill their pledge.

http://www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2015/...cart_river

What happens when the first "goal" is not met??? Wait, they never laid out any guidelines for this thing anyway. Good luck on hitting this moving target!!!

As a USA fan, I would love to see UAB football back at full steam, but I'm beginning to think this is the quiet before the storm. This lull going on up in B-ham is beginning to be deafening.
