I was aware of Louisiana Tech's women's basketball history, but man, I had no idea that they had produced so many HOF players.

I have been recognizing the Women's HOF as the pinnacle although I am now aware that the Naismith inducts women as well (as they should). I think that considering them both pinnacle organizations is appropriate. What do you think? Again, I am a basketball dunce.

I did see this. Is the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame the pinnacle HOF for women's basketball? Please excuse my ignorance.

I also noticed that Louisiana Tech has former players in this HOF.

These Tech players/coaches are in the Women's Basketball HOF:

- Leon Barmore
- Gary Blair (assistant under Barmore; made his name at other schools)
- Kurt Budke
- Pam Kelly
- Sonja Hogg
- Janice Lawrence
- Kim Mulkey
- Teresa Weatherspoon

Which of these are coaches? I would rather stick to players, as coaches come and go and their legacies are not usually attached to one school.

Barmoe, Blair, Budke, and Hogg were coaches.

Kelly, Lawarence, Mulkey, and Weatherspoon were players.

North Texas has at least one

Hint: Mean __ Green

Brian Waters will likely become the next in about 4 years, whenever he becomes eligible.

Don Maynard has the unique history of being in the NFL Hall of Fame, and having played for two different CUSA teams (Rice one year and then UTEP).

He's also probably the only one from this league that appeared on King of the Hill.

Barmore was also a player (although he's in the HoF as a coach). I understand why Tech wouldn't get credit for, say, Lone Star Dietz (who is in the College Football Hall) because he is in based on his cumulative accomplishments at several schools, but I think Barmore may be an exception to this rule in that he's in the HoF because of his time at Tech. His legacy is absolutely tied to one school (despite some late career assisting for his protege at Baylor).

This is where I'd defer to CUSA schools with the hottest alumni... (see UTEP thread on its board)
Are they athletes? No, but physical work got them there....

There is a pretty funny King of the Hill episode about Rice though.

FAU has Yolanda Griffith who was inducted into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame.
