From an outsider, I'd say it's going to be tough for you guys to get many home and homes with AAC programs, outside of an SMU.

ECU, Memphis, Cincy, UCF, USF, and UConn all have capacities of 40k and greater and average in that neighborhood with ECU averaging closer to 50k.

From an admin perspective, it makes little sense to have a H and H with schools in the 20-25k range due to lost ticket revenue. This is another reason you see these AAC schools being successful in getting H and Hs with lower level P5s with similar seating capacities and ticket sales.

Not sure you have seen your conference attendance figures from last year...ECU was at 44,000, UCF at 37,000 then it dips way down to Memphis at 33,000 (which was up 9,000 from 2013)...the other teams then are comparable to Sun Belt teams especially Louisiana and Arkansas State. Not sure where the 50,000 and 40,000 attendance figures came from.

We did 50k a few years ago, UCF was over 40k, USF did near 50k a few years ago.... These things fluctuate, but the potential is there

Having witnessed the WAC completely disintegrate around Benson, they both realize that something like that could easily happen again. If all P5 conferences were to expand to 14, it is reasonable to think that one of the SBC or CUSA may not survive. Growing the SBC to 12, or even 14 members, would enhance Benson's job security. I don't blame him. It's the smart move.

Doesn't matter to him. He will retire at the end of his current contract.

You don't know what you are talking about in the bolded part.

Home and home deals come in two flavors.

Vanilla: I play at home and get my ticket sales and you get nothing. I go to your place you get your ticket sales and I get nothing.

Vanilla with sprinkles: I play at home and give you some previously agreed upon dollar amount which is normally between $50,000 and $200,000 so you can show money on the books to cover your travel and I keep the rest. Then I go to your place you give me a check of the agreed upon amount and you keep the rest of the sales.

Michigan playing home and home with Georgia State would get the same amount if they cut that deal playing home and home with BYU.

It makes no difference at all whether the team you travel to sells 100,000 tickets or 1,000 tickets, you make your money at home and if you do the version with sprinkles you get your check no matter what.

There is absolutely no financial reason to care whether your opponent sells any tickets when you travel to play them.
