That is a little surprising. I had thought going into the season that there would be four teams a little ahead of the rest (Rice, La Tech, Marshall, and WKU). It looks like the odds-makers have MT with that group. I think they'll be good, but don't know if they'll be that strong of a challenger for the title.

You obviously forgot about Tech, who dismantled WKU and led Marshall the whole game until 1:50 left in the 4th quarter last year. So favorite maybe, clear favorite not even close

Rice has a pretty solid home field advantage, and I would not count my chickens yet about a WKU-Marshall winner hosting the championship game. I think WKU on October 3 is another possible hotter-than-hell kick-off at 1:30 on the artificial turf, in the bowl at Rice Stadium with the visitors in the full sun all day long, and Rice in the shade for the second half. Will the team from Bowling Green be up for it? If Rice tags WKU with the early conference loss, might be the Rice-Louisiana Tech winner host the championship game instead?

I like the way you think. Louisiana Tech fans sound a little overconfident if you ask me. Rice is very good at home.
