RE: OT: Women's World Cup
saw on tv we are like a 95% favorite, don't know where they came up with that percentage, but take it on face value, didn't help the Columbians that one of their players has been bad mouthing the USA team for the last week, and she is the same girl who is responsible for sucker punching one the USA girls the last time they played. USA is really going to be fired up for this one, cant see us losing it.

I've fought an urge to cheer for Colombia today because this such a David V Goliath matchup.

No doubter straight red on Columbia opened the door. Need to play with more confidence Friday. Nice screen door goal by Morgan. 02-13-banana

RE: OT: Women's World Cup
I believe that we have won.

Two key suspensions for the game Friday - we'll see how the bench responds.

USA-China should be an interesting game - isn't there a government summit about then?

RE: OT: Women's World Cup
USA has the easiest draw of anyone in the quarters, facing the winner of China (ranked #16) vs. Cameroon (ranked #53). Even as poorly as they've played so far, and despite missing two starters in the next game, there's really no way they shouldn't make it to the semis.

RE: OT: Women's World Cup
yeah, they should easily surpass china. this is why it was so important for them to win the group. winning their group gave them a much easier path to the semis

That's part of how the game works. US does it just as much.

At least in soccer, the ref can yellow card the flopper for simulation.

I think basketball should follow suit and call the foul on the flopper.

Our players have enough problems without the flopping.

Just not small enough to evade Domestic Violence charges...

Women's soccer is such a different game from the men. We're one of the top teams in the world primarily because we've always had a strong history of Women's sports in this country. In a whole lot of countries in this world, Women have never really broken through into sports yet, because it is seen as a Men's thing.

Hell look at England, the longest history of Soccer in the World. Their Women's Soccer team has about the same popularity that our Men's team had over here in the late 80's. Those Colombian players are practically considered heroes by the women of their country just because it's so unheard of for a Woman to play soccer there...to the point at most of them were current college players in the United States

Many of the teams in this tournament fought a stigma in their country that they were not qualified enough to play soccer, and the National Team's are competing with very little money to buy gear, and the players will make very little at the end of the experience because of gender inequity.

It's amazing really
