Any stadium Temple built would be probably half the size or less, and probably not nearly as many bells and whistles as an NFL stadium.

PPL Park was $130M for an 18,500 seat soccer stadium in the worst of the worst area. An on-campus stadium would be at least twice as much money.

The Wells Fargo Center was $316M for a 20,000 seat arena.

If we build a basic, ****** stadium with aluminum, yeah, it might only cost $160M, but why half ass something so important?

EDIT: The Linc was $656M in 2015 dollars for a 70,000 seat stadium. Divide that by 2 and you have $328M. Minnesota's stadium was $334M for a 52,500 seat stadium.

Yeah if you divided it exactly in half, but realistically you aren't going to build a stadium with NFL level amenities. 1/3 the cost would be building something crazy nice for a 30k stadium.

I never said that, but there's no reason we can't build a smaller version of Minnesota's stadium.

lol what? I bet 90% of the fans in this forum think the same thing. You guys need to just build an aluminum job on campus and you can always make it bigger better later. Our conference has a national perception problem and teams like Temple playing in a 3/4 empty NFL stadium because your school is too cheap or doesn't care enough about football to have an on campus stadium isn't helping. Like I said, pony up or go join the A10 and forget fb

Kruciff is right, why pay for something that will never be yours... I view playing in an NFL stadium as a slow painful death for almost any one program.

Except that's probably overkill as well. They probably have amenities and things that are not necessary or worth the cost. Something in between Tulane and Houston's stadium size wise and those level of amenities would be fine and would not cost 300 million.

couldn't agree more. I'd ban college teams having an NFL stadium as their "home stadium" moving forward. College and NFL are 2 different things and its takes away from colleges when NFL...Nevermind. You guys all know my opinion on that matter. I never thought Temple would be able to get an OCS accomplished due to a variety of factors. I still don't. JMHO. Cheers

Yeah...I lost my cool. I shouldn't have told the dude to suck it. When people say 'STFU' to me it sets me off. But no excuses...I was over the line on the 'suck it' line.

but as far as the other stuff...yeah, I mean it: Temple looks small time in an NFL stadium.

If anyone seems like a troll in your exchanges, it's you. Bearcat#1 might not be as nice about it as you think he should be, but you're talking about building a top-tier stadium for a team that can't draw more than 20k average for conference opponents. You're acting delusional.

And, if we're going to be blunt, your not-so-subtle dismissal of 'aluminum stadiums' has grown tiresome, especially considering it's source. Temple is not winning games, and not selling tickets, taking jabs at teams in your conference who are doing both doesn't really endear yourself to others very well. Our stadium might be aluminum right now, but that aluminum is lined with conference championship banners and full of fans on gameday. Maybe Temple would be better off if those two factors were your biggest concern, instead of focusing on a pipe-dream of a stadium and trying to act better than you actually are.

Temple has to make this happen. I'm sure they've got intelligent and qualified people working on it.

Games at NFL stadiums can be depressing to watch. Those crowds of 25,000 look awfully small. I'm glad UConn didn't end up sharing a big stadium with the Patriots. Even our crowds of 40,000 under Edsall wouldn't look great.

It wasn't supposed to be aimed at UCF, but if you're going to be blunt, I will too: UCF's stadium is an absolute embarrassment and not what Temple University should be aiming for. Our facilities are all top-notch. Settling for high school level garbage like UCF is not our M.O.

LOL what??!! It's loud, a great home field advantage and ON CAMPUS. I can't believe a fan of a crap program that plays in a 3/4 empty NFL stadium has the sac to call UCF's stadium an 'embarrassment'....SMH

Your MO is to look like a sunbelt team in a town nobody knows you have a team in....that NFL stadium isn't the answer for Temple football.

Call me old fashioned, but I'd rather have an embarrassment for a football stadium than an embarrassment for a football program. Keep renting the Linc, keep striving for mediocrity, and don't be surprised when you're eventually dropping the sport and joining the A10. Fielding an FBS team isn't getting any cheaper, and a small college like Temple can't afford to indefinitely burn money paying rent on a stadium they don't own.

Call me old fashioned, but it's pretty easy to put up a football stadium when your garbage city was nothing but swamps and orange groves. That's why it costs pennies to put up a stadium on all the worthless land. We don't have that luxury.

We may not be as large as Diploma Mill U of Orlando, but we're not at all a 'small college'.

I never said anything about continuing to rent at the Linc. I just don't want to build a crappy high school stadium like UCF did.

I remember the last time someone called us a diploma mill. I hope Temple's admission standards, entry GPA and test requirements are up to snuff because that argument is next.

Wow, dude... Wow.

What? The guy got butthurt because he thought I was taking shots at UCF, which I wasn't. I'm not so sure why everyone has to flip out over the fact that I'd like Temple to have a nice football stadium on campus if we're making the effort.

I'll spell it out again: Things cost a lot of money in Philly thanks to politics and union bull****. We can't just put up $50M football stadiums.

I have no doubt that UCF fudges their admission numbers significantly. I can't wait for you to tell me the average high school GPA for UCF students is a 3.8 and SAT 2 part is 1300.
