since his final choices came down to ND or Missouri, wonder if they'll be a player. Also, wonder if Wester Michigan will throw their hat in. Should be interesting where he lands. Big athletic end.

He was quoted as saying that he wants to be closer to his Benton Harbor home, which is odd because South Bend is not that far at all. Maybe he's looking at WMU in Kalamazoo or dropping down to D2. Those are only schools close to Benton Harobr.

He just visited UM and was told there are no openings. After that rebuff he then tweeted that he has re-opened his recruitment. I am sure UT is interested. I will attempt to find out more info.

Hopefully he can weather sitting out a year and become a factor for us. We'll have 3 Sr. DE's this year, and 1 Jr. It will help next year to have a guy with a few years of training under his belt.

He reportedly was leaving N.D to be closer to family in Benton Harbor which makes no sense to wind up in Toledo lol. But best of luck to him.

Well.. perhaps closer to home at a school where he has a football future!

Williams is an explosive pass rusher. Very explosive. Almost all ND sites expected Williams to see considerable 3rd down action as a pass rush specialist. He has an amazing Hudl video

Reportedly ND was five players over the scholarship limit going into the summer, so they certainly needed some players to decide to transfer. Wonder if that had anything to do with things. How is a school even allowed to offer scholarships to more than 85 players?

His home is in Berrien Springs, MI making ND the closest school. Northwestern and WMU are about equal distance

RE: Previous commit Jhonny Williams transferring from Notre Dame
From 247 Sports:

Rising Sophomore Defensive End Leaves Program

After struggling to ascend up the depth chart at rush end, sophomore-to-be Jhonny Williams decided to leave the program earlier this summer. The former three-star prospect from Michigan was a raw defensive end when he arrived at Notre Dame, and much of his fall was spent adding size to his 6-foot-6 frame.

Pure athleticism doesn’t always translate into talented football ability, and that seems to be what happened in Jhonny Williams’ case. Defensive line coach Keith Gilmore talked about how Jhonny Williams played more as an athlete than a football player, and said the most important part of his development would be learning proper technique and understanding the playbook. Jhonny Williams failed to make a move up the depth chart this spring, and ending April behind three rush ends meant seeing the field in 2015 would have been an uphill battle.

Not sure where I got Benton Harbor, but still UT seems an odd choice if the reason was in fact to be closer to home. Not a big deal, just surprised me.

Transfers are hit and miss, but I see him fitting in well.

Benton Harbor was on several message boards, including UofM.
