Just so I can wrap my head around all of this stuff.
Are UCF fans now saying that they were "left behind" and they expected to jump from the MAC straight to the BE when USF moved, bypassing CUSA completely?
We were Indy a number of years. We were being seriously considered and it certainly stuck in our craw at the time.
Come on man. You never got left behind.
This. It isn't 60 years ago when conferences were drawn up and tv deals were still unheard of. UCF should be quite happy with their meteoric rise as is. You could still be stuck in the MAC winning pointless championships and having 10 win seasons in front of 15 fans.
Or going 0-11 during the period you were "being seriously considered"

Was no way trying to belittle ECU, you fans do a nice job of alienating the rest of us from ECU, why is everything negative with you guys. You seem to really like where you are at right now, trying to show why some other groups don't feel that way and why you would not if ECU was regulated back to CUSA. Please quit trying to make it like ECU is the only G5 team that's beats P5 teams, good lord.

However you see it. We got left behind in the big east as well

We obviously brought enough value to move. Trust me we weren't handed anything. Just because our program is younger doesn't mean anything. Look at usf as an example. But yes I am glad we are not niu

We had five losing seasons since we started the program before that. That included d2

Like it or not, when the 6 Big East Football Conference (UConn, Rutgers, Pitt, WVU, VT, BC) of mid-2003 discussed a split from the basketball schools, the expansion candidates were Louisville, Cincinnati and Central Florida. The memo was made public by FOIA request, or during one of the lawsuits. I don't know if anyone has it archived on their hard drive, because its two best locations from google are 404'd. But, when the football schools conspired to drop the basketball schools during the first ACC raids, the memo lists UCF, not USF.
EDIT: Best I can do is link to a discussion of the no-longer-easily-availble PDF.
