Universal Automatic Voter Registration
Why Universal Registration?

Complete and accurate voter rolls are essential to the integrity of the electoral process and the legitimacy of results. Yet, as evidenced by recent elections, voter rolls are littered with duplicate registrants and errors. Nearly a third of eligible American voters are not registered to vote and voter registration drives result in a surge of registrations close to an election that are difficult to process and that create unanticipated demands on polling places. As a result, millions of eligible voters are effectively shut out of the political process.

While no voter registration process is perfect, ours is riddled with flaws. The United States is one of only a few democracies in the world where the government does not take responsibility for registering voters. Instead, our government leaves the construction of voter rolls up to partisan and non-partisan voter registration organizations, political parties, election officials and active citizens. Sadly, this hands off approach invites voter registration fraud. It is not surprising that voter rolls are neither complete nor accurate.

But democrats say voter fraud is so small it is almost non existent?

But it's every citizens' right to vote. They shouldn't be taxed to vote.

RE: Universal Automatic Voter Registration
I suppose there is no coincidence that Hillary just gave a speech on this yesterday and you parrot the talking points here the next day?

I wouldn't be totally against the idea in some form, but we have MASSIVELY more important and pertinent issues than this silly bs that really is just anther fake issue/distraction like the War on women.

Hillary wants to create another fake wedge issue to try and paint the other side as bigots so she can cry racism for the next 15 months. The more she can talk about this nonsense is the less she ever has to talk about or confront the real issues our nation faces.

It is my right to bear arms, but I have to pay fees. It is my right to a trial, but I have court costs. It is my right to due process, but civil forfieture is allowed. It is my right to freedom of speech and assembly, but I have to get a permit and pay a fee for a soapbox.

Yes, this issue was the thrust of her campaign yesterday.

You are passing along her talking points.

Nor should they be forced to register to vote if they don't desire.

They wouldn't be. They could simply opt out of being registered if they wanted to.

And then they decide they want to vote in the next election and register just beforehand. You have the same problem as before.

NO.

You simply do this using general government funds. I'm okay with a few pennies of my tax money being used to ensure that there is a fair voter registration process.

There wasn't a problem here to begin with.

That is the trick here. Hillary wants to talk about fake garbage like this so she doesn't have to talk about ISIS, Benghazi, Obamacare or the economy.

I realize that. I was trying to lead him to that conclusion. Voter registration isn't much of a problem and the solution for it is incredibly simple in my opinion. Paying your taxes automatically registers you to vote. Link IRS and DMV databases with drivers license numbers and that would take care of moves made mid year that may put someone in a new district.

Every U.S. citizen would automatically get registered just like men get registered for selective service.
