That was my thought to, cost of creating new signs every year and installing them, would cost an arm and a leg. My hometown of Sylvania, OH hold the LPGA Marathon Classic, and replaces the street signs of the street that the course sits on with the winner's name, and there have been calls to cut it because of the costs every year, can't imagine what replacing 50 signs would cost every year.

I'm sure the paint/decal used on the sign is some DOT regulated thing and only one manufacturer makes it (who has good DC connections) and it's like $1000 per sign. The grade of steel used is probably a similar situation. If you told me that the "cost" was $1M to do it, I wouldn't be shocked.

Aside from cost, they'd say it's a public safety thing. The driving test shows a red, white, and blue sign.

I'd just get a sign made and make it a traveling trophy. Replacing them all on I-4 isn't doable. But the idea of the sign being colored differently on each side for a trophy is great.

You guys are way overthinking this. The best trophies are from a prank or some other kind of mischief. Why don't you guys just steal an old beat up I-4 sign and attach it to a base?

Interesting idea, but like others have said, DOT - state or federal would never allow this.

How about you guys play the game in the median halfway between the two schools.

It's a missed opportunity if it does not say "War on 4".

Maybe thats the trophy.... the two differently colored sides. Could always put up signs similar to the "Adopt a Highway" program, and have the losing university pick up the tab while the winner gets their logo plastered all over. And those sponsorships last a year, plus the highways get cleaned. Everyone wins.

i like the usf/ucf rivalry

it's always funny because there will be 10 pages of why it's not a rivalry with lots of smack talk....

That could be a good selling point.

Also, make the losing football team do it. USF players are used to those fluorescent orange vests anyway so it should come naturally.

I actually like this, though i doubt the feds would allow it.

It's not really a rivalry. The money to change these signs should be donated to UCF's athletic department.
