RE: UNCW LSU Part Deux
They're acting a bit....skeered. I think with their ace burnt, our hitting and speed worries them. LSU isn't a long ball team, so I think we can keep it close. And, if we can, we have a pen that I know they are worried about.

Now what we need is for Game one to be delayed until 5:00, the game to finish with a UNCW win, and the storms to come in and cancel the second game until Tuesday. LSU would FREAK!

Our starting pitching has been stellar all weekend, so....screw it, I think Crump comes out and pitches a gem for 5-6 innings. There, I said it.

RE: UNCW LSU Part Deux
Gotta think sophomore lefty Jared Poche' will be on the mound today for LSU. He's not a big strikeout pitcher (54 K's on the season) as compared to Lange (110 K's). But he has nice control and is very dependable. If he officially gets the nod this will be the first lefty starter we'll be facing, meaning our lineup will be a bit different.

Typically we've gone with something like this against lefties:

1. Linkous LF (L)
2. Golden CF ®
3. Dick 1B (L)
4. Dunlap DH ®
5. Stupiensky C (L)
6. Canada 2B ®
7. Connelly 3B (L)
8. Shields RF (L)
9. McDowell SS ®

Meh, he had a legitimate gripe, and if we were in their shoes, we'd be making the same complaint. Accept the gift we received by the NCAA and move on.

Also, I take it as a compliment to us in many ways. As 82Hawk said, they wouldn't be complaining so vociferously if they didn't think we stand a chance to take 2 games today. After outscoring Tulane 18-3 in two games, shutting down LSU's offense and getting some hard hit balls off their ace, we're viewed as a threat to the # 2 overall seed in the tournament.

I get it 08, and the difference is WE may have been complaining, not our AD. He comes off as a whiny entitled prick. Hopefully we can pull a rabbit out of a hat today and give him reason to cry like a little girl

Adding to the intrigue of today's game is Coach Scalf going for win # 800. This would be one helluva way to get it.

Their AD is am idiot. But LSU, as a whole, loves us. Well, as much as someone can love an opponent. Just by us owning Tulane would be enough. I'm also sure some remember us from 2003. Now, if we take two from them today, that love may fade away.

I have all the respect for LSU that one can have for a quality opponent. They get awesome fan support but also don't seem to have a bad reputation as a fan base either, which can be a difficult line to tread.

But yes, I do want to beat them badly all the same. If we can somehow take 2 today it'll be by far the greatest moment for our program in it's history to this point and the culmination of so many years of hard work by Coach Scalf and Coach Hood.

RE: UNCW LSU Part Deux
Their fans at the ball park seemed to like us, but on their forum... some of them hate us, are just as pissed as their AD, and during game one even referred to us as a "community collage". Yes. They used collage.

Almost everyone in the same forum were pissed when their fans gave Shields a standing ovation for that catch. It was all they could comment about for like 9 pages it seemed.

Now let's hope the boys go out there and really give them something to cry about!!!

If they're on the message board rather than at their own Regional those are the bottom of the barrel type fans, akin to Cowboys fans who've never been to Dallas. I don't think they're a strong representative of the fan base as a whole. If we hosted a Regional, I'm pretty sure all our out-of-towners would find a way to get here for that. I get it, their stadium seats 10,000 and there's likely many times that many LSU Baseball fans out there, but my point still stands.

B*tching about their own fans showing basic respect to an opponent for a great play is the talk of a bandwagoner who knows nothing about the game.

That too. Cowboys just made more sense as an analogy, because the overwhelming majority of Saints fans used to be Cowboys fans. I imagine that's the same type of people making comments on these LSU boards; the ones who only showed up for the Saints when Brees arrived and probably don't know who Aaron Brooks is.

1 hour, 40 minutes to gametime. It'll continue to be a very unproductive day at work for me.
