What's the ideal alignment of the Sun Belt for you and your school?
What's the ideal alignment of the Sun Belt for you and your school? Are any members invited in and/or kicked out of the Sun Belt?

This isn't a thread to explain why your school should be the next addition to the SEC or ACC, but a thread to see what would make the Sun Belt more ideal for your school and its fans.

Current Lineup:
Appalachian State
Arkansas State
UA-Little Rock (non-football)
Georgia Southern
Georgia State
Hartwick (soccer only)
Howard (soccer only)
Idaho (football only)
UL-Lafayette
UL-Monroe
New Mexico State (football only)
NJIT (soccer only)
South Alabama
Texas State
UT-Arlington (non-football)
Troy

NEW TEAM (EKU)
NEW TEAM (JMU)

West

USA
Ark State
ULL
Texas State
ULM

With JMU passing twice...they are no longer an option so Coastal Carolina will have to take their spot.

SBC Football

East

Ga Southern (ULL) - just feels right
Ga State (ULM) - somebody has to
App State (Ark St.) - ASU battle
Troy (USA permanent rival)
EKU (NMSU) - Colonels vs. Aggies
JMU (Texas St.) - cats v. dogs

West

USA
Ark State
ULL
Texas State
ULM
NMSU (full member)

-----

Basketball onlies - note Basketball will be played without divisions. 18 game schedule with 5 teams twice and 8 teams once.

UALR
UTA

-----

That seems about perfect to me, added permanent partner for everyone. I could handle Mo. St., but that kills your USA in the west wish.

My picks for a couple of years from now.

East

Appalachian State
Eastern Kentucky
Georgia Southern
Georgia State
South Alabama
Troy

West

Arkansas State
Louisiana Lafayette
Louisiana Monroe
Missouri State
New Mexico State
Texas State

Other sports

UALR
UTA
Coastal Carolina (football in Big South until they are ready for FBS).

Or if Missouri State doesn't make the move then USA would move West and Coastal to the East as transitional team.

Missouri State
Cajuns
Warhawks
Bobcats
Aggies
Red Wolves

Jaguars
Trojans
Eagles
Mountaineers
Panthers
EKU

That's it. No real need for the basketball schools unless UTA thinks it's bringing back football.

I could live with this . . . .

. . . . Though, truth be told, I'd still like another FB playing school in TX in the Belt.

Y'all gotta remember that TEXAS is VAST . . . . I can drive 10 hours down IH-10 and still be in Texas. . . . Well maybe 9 - 9 1/2 since they jacked the speed limit up.

Point remains that we're not all condensed out here like y'all are on the East Coast . . I drive that long back east and I'll cross 1 or more state lines . . . .

Trouble is, I don't know what FB playing school in TX is actually ready to make the move . . . . Damnit!

But yeah, I could live with Chiefsfan's proposal . . . . Wish UTA would just bite the bullet and bring FB back . . . . Damn Mavericks . . .

Don't get me wrong...I think UALR and UTA are great schools, but we're the only FBS league with non football members. UALR doesn't even have the required minimum number of SBC Sports.

I know we're rivals with UALR, but at some point, we're probably going to separate anyway.

That's the thing about UTA. I hate the pace sometimes, but when we do something, we do it right. Took a lot longer than expected for the new arena. There was talk about partnering with the City of Arlington and Rangers and building it off-campus, along ith some other goofy options, but eventually the proper location, size and plan was put together and it is done right.

When our most recent prior-president took office, students had just voted to add to the student fee in order to bring back FB. He went the facilities route first and while I was highly upset then, think it was the right choice today. We are on the verge of having top-notch or on-par facilities for all sports and that just wasn't the case a decade ago. The word I'm getting is the football issue will get a serious look once all sports are solid.

Most indcations are now that all sports have a good home. And then women's golf was added a couple of months ago when we were already compliant with Title IX and sports sponsorship numbers...

RE: What's the ideal alignment of the Sun Belt for you and your school?
I know this is a "Sun Belt" dream alignment, so my ideal would be a consolidated conference with the eastern schools of CUSA in the Sun Belt. The rest of the west can figure out The New SWC or CUSA 4.0

App State
Charlotte
JMU
Marshall
MTSU
ODU
WKU
---------
Coastal Carolina
FAU
FIU
GSU
Ga Southern
Troy

Yeah, cause TV execs all over this Great Land are just chomping at the bit to get their
Hands and ratings on the likes of Coastal and Mo. St.

. . . . No offense intended. . . (to Coastal or Mo.). . . .
