EAST
South Alabama
Troy
Georgia Southern
Georgia State
Appalachian State
James Madison
Coastal Carolina
WEST
Arkansas State
Louisiana Lafayette
Texas State
New Mexico State
Tulsa
Tulane
Missouri State

I think most would be extremely happy with this lineup.

Scratch JMU, Tulsa and Tulane.

for me it would be east/west divisions so that our fans can get used to a rivalry with those schools in the west. there is not much of a following in this area for any of the sbc east schools and I dont see many of their fans traveling to here for any games. just being realistic. If we dont restart football we might be a better fit in the movalley. the dilema for uta fans is that we are a really strong school academically with a large enrollment and 200,000 alumni but a small time player in terms of college sports.

I had honestly wondered about why UTA was in the Sun Belt (not trying to sound like a dick).

This isn't a power basketball conference, and I didn't think Texas State was the primary rival for UTA. Don't get me wrong, I see the value UTA brings to the conference (travel reduction for the rest of the conference, easy travel for us, solid basketball and baseball), I just wasn't sure why you guys were here.

That can be remedied . . .. . Restart FOOTBALL . . . .

Under current SBC:

West - Louisiana, Texas State, Ark State, New Mexico State, ULM
East - App State, GA State, GA Southern, Troy, USA

Add NMSU as full member. Drop Idaho and all non-football schools.

you guys are right, it is a curious fit for us. uta and utsa and txst wanted to get away from the slc with it's lineup of small regional schools. the wac was a good deal for us in that we were aligned with pretty good schools like utah state and nmsu and san jose state and denver but the wac fell apart and the sbc was the only fbs level conference that was available. we have been in conference with stAte and u-laf and ulm before, so was not a hard transition as our fans alumni are familiar with those guys and we have a history with them. utsa had the use of the alamo dome and san antonio as a draw, so they looked pretty good to c-usa. If we arent going to have football, we might be better off as an independant because we could schedule all the b12 teams plus unt and a-m and houston and that would generate a lot of fan interest. we are used to playing those schools in everything already.
