UAB part... I've lost count
Reporter at a sports radio station says UAB president will support return of football. Will still require board approval.

Maybe this was the plan all along.

I kid. Or maybe not. I don't know.

Just board approval then?

They're doomed. Only thing this will do is make it clear who is making the decisions down there. Stay tuned for Monday's next exciting episode in As the Blazer Turns.

Tony Kurre officiated a mass Valentine's Day wedding for local radio station Rock 99.5, where my mother got hitched to husband #2.

That should say a lot about his sources on a topic like this.

RE: UAB part... I've lost count
UAB president will be allowed cover by the board much like our old Louisiana US Senator Landrieu. She always voted the way her constituents wanted unless the party actually needed her vote, then of course she voted with he party.

If the president has a vote, his vote was needed to go with the board initially, but his vote is not needed now. If he has a vote the team will not be reinstated or not with a vote of 8-7 or whatever the number of votes are. It will be more than his vote one way or another.

I don't see it happening.

UAB, I hate this for you but it'll all be over soon.

Wouldn't that make him the perfect person to leak a story too though? If it doesn't come back, it's easy for the Watts/BOT to point to his history as proof he was lying. If it does come back, then UAB gets to take a shot at all the media who have gone after them the last few weeks by leaking to a shock jock.

I really, really hope UAB reinstates football. Then they can remain in CUSA, the Sun Belt can stick together for a while, and we can move forward with looking at prospective expansion candidates over the next few weeks.

CUSA sticking to 14 is what we need to happen.

I want a steady league. If UAB football means the SBC stays steady, god speed blazers.

I really hope that it goes their way...but their recruiting will suffer.

Troy, USA, GA State, MTSU, AK State, etc...will only have to say this to a recruit that is trying to decide between them and UAB, "If you sign with UAB the program might be pulled, it has been done before." And that sucks for them.

I am pretty sure Alaska State does not have a football program...

WKU also recruits heavily in Alabama as of late...

If you are not recruiting ALabama, you either live in Florida or Texas, or you're not trying.

I just don't see how UAB comes back from this with any haste. Even if the program comes back, this whole debacle has set it back decades.

I will say this, my understanding the current staff at NCSU views Alabama fertile recruiting area. That is the reason that was given for the keeping the away game for USA and scheduling Troy away. I imagine other P5s will try and come in to do this especially if it turns out well for NCSU.

Yeah, they may be hurting when it comes to their on-field performance, but at this point, that's none of our concern. Our concern is that they remain in CUSA so the Sun Belt can remain intact and together. I wish UAB all the best, as they deserve it, but I want what's best for the Sun Belt at this point, which is UAB remaining where it's at.

If they do get football back, I think after five years they will be stronger than ever. Have you ever lost something important that you took for granted? If you're able to get it back it is treated much differently going forward.

Good luck to them, screw the Alabama BOT.

maybe not you, but as an in-state school, that's definitely OUR concern.
