Good luck to them, screw the Alabama BOT.

IDK I would say that what happened to UAB is equivalent to the SMU death penalty. SMU has never regained what they had and UAB never had anything to start with.

We also instituted academic restrictions that were finally reversed last year

it says a lot about your mom!

anyone who'd get hitched by a rock station dj is a-ok in my book. you don't know how much i love that.

but a rock dj sounds like an odd choice to break a football story. unless his station carries uab football games or something. but then again, it's a pretty big current events topic in birmingham i'd guess.

we'd also get better recruits if they didn't exist.

when USA was starting their program, we received absolutely no support or love from the UAB faithful who were hoping we'd drop it or not bother.

I keep going back and forth on this topic as to what I personally hope happens, but part of me may hate UA just enough to at least not be disappointed if UAB comes back.

Troy, USA, GA State, MTSU, AK State, etc...will only have to say this to a recruit that is trying to decide between them and UAB, "If you sign with UAB the program might be pulled, it has been done before." And that sucks for them.

WKU also recruits heavily in Alabama as of late...

If you are not recruiting ALabama, you either live in Florida or Texas, or you're not trying.

Seems like we have shifted from Georgia to Alabama last 2 seasons in recruiting..Callaway who is on our staff is a former UAB HC, and also has many connections with Alabama high school coaches...

GA recruits have added quite a few new closer FBS programs the last few years in App, UNCC, GA St, and GS. Over half our 2015 class came from GA.

I would like to see UAB stay so those embarassing the rest of us by pimping on the CUSA board can find a new hobby.

TK hasn't been a rock jock for a few years now. He is on a morning sports talk show with Jay Barker and Al DelGreco on JOX is Birmingham, Jay of course is Bama, Al is Auburn and TK supports UAb just because.

FWIW, I've never had any animus toward South, and think every school that wants a football team should field one.

Hell, I'll be pulling for you in '15 because half our roster is in Mobile. 03-lol

Also, anyone that thinks UAB will struggle for the next decade has never met Bill Clark. 2016 will be bad due to low roster numbers. 2017 we'll be bowl eligible again. He's way too good of a coach to field a bad football team. It has been reported that he's still on campus keeping recruiting boards up for 2016.

Suppose we have 25 players still eligible on campus. (I don't know the exact number) Many didn't transfer out after December. I believe this number is actually higher.
We can get up to 25 gray shirt or transfers in this fall of 2015. (Not going to be top tier D1 talent, but bodies nevertheless).
We can recruit a full class for the spring of 2016.

It may be possible for some of the people that transferred out of UAB to transfer back in once reinstated. The NCAA could make exceptions to transfer rules for this situation.

LOL, Callaway never really established relationships in Alabama. He recruited something like 20 JUCO's per season... Callaway's last recruiting class at UAB was heavy on the Alabama recruits, but before that not so much.

I hope you get your program back. Nobody should have to go through that.

But I'd be opposed to any special waivers. This is not like a natural disaster that hit you. Your own administration willingly did it. I'm not sure that should result in a do-over transfer.

Clark is gone as soon as he gets his state retirement year-requirement satisfied. He is a very good coach and will go far.

most uab fans like USA its just a couple of the pycho fans that drew the venom. ok it was mostly one USA fan. as far as history goes UAB tried to get USA into CUSA when it was formed but you didn't wan to join

that may have been his initial plan but not any more. if uab gets football back clark isn't leaving until a top job offers. he believes he can build a non-cartel powerhouse @ uab. if turns uab into one of the best non-cartel programs he is going to be offered a top twenty gig. he believes he can turn uab into a top non-cartel program

I want UAB to bring football back because I want the SBC to be stable on the expansion front for a while, but if they do bring it back, Clark is going to have his hands full winning. Restarting an FBS football program from scratch is not easy.
