We were a bad instant replay and fumble on the goal line from having 11 wins.
Guess it sucks to be all of us, doesn't it?

I don't think USA will be very good next year...But I'll take the over on USA. If we win 3 games, I'm assuming that would mean they're suggesting that USA is predicted to beat Gardiner Webb, Idaho, and @ Georgia State. And nothing else.

I've used this line before, but it's absolutely applicable here:

It goes the other way also, you were a couple plays from 5 wins.... Pretty much with every team, the difference between bad, good and great seasons usually isn't much in hindsight
The ULL game wasn't that close .

Not sure who you guys play after the Cajuns, but if I were your coach I'd not waste my valuable time preparing for the team from Louisiana. After last year's result it's obvious this one will be a cakewalk for you guys.

Ark St. already had three bounces go there way that game wasn't as close as the final score.

And you were one more bounce away from losing. I Watched the game. A lot of games are decided on a crucial play or turning point. Just as close as you were to to 9 wins you were that close to 5 wins. It happens to everyone every season, there isn't a big difference between a lot of wins and losses.

We got ACC officiated out of a win. One of the worst reversals in the history of the game.

Ah you have to love the woulda, coulda, shoulda thread.
I'm not a Troy fan because of wins and losses.

I agree in principle. But my point is there is a big difference is a kicker missing three 30 yard or less FGs and an extra point and Ark St. getting a fourth bounce their way.

So in those 2 ganes you were a kick away, was there nothing in the entire game that went against the other team? It's easy to look at just the end of the game and say that but that's why you play an entire game. You can disect a 12-0 season and turn it into 6-6. I didn't always like the saying or cliche but now I totally back it..you are what your record says you are.

No, all four kicks in my post were from one game in which we out gained the opponent by 130 yards and ten minutes in TOP. It truly was a masterful disaster on special teams. It's been a long time since I was that frustrated watching a football game.
If our defense and offense pick up where they left off this team can be very good if for no other reason than the fact our special teams can't be as bad as they were last year after lifting a few more redshirts this year.

Having followed Troy for an entire decade now, through the ups and downs, I can tell you that logic is flawed. You see big improvements in the spring and fall practices in the areas that desperately need improving. The season starts and you see the fruits of those efforts: Great special teams play. But areas you expected to be "even better" may surprise you when the season starts with sloppy play: ex. 4 starters return on the oline and a former 4-Star Miami Transfer and a JUCO all-american from Butler CC should make this unit even stronger. 5 sacks in the opener with no time to throw and you're left asking what the hell happened.
And if you're Troy, half the people you're expecting to step up and get a starting position become academically ineligible before the season starts.

Cajuns returned 19 starters last year too, star WR lost in game 1 and changed the dynamic ofvthe offense. It rarely goes how you think, they are young men, not robots. Injuries, chemistry, opponents, luck, weather, academics, players personal lives etc... So much goes into getting 55-60 guys on the same page as opposed to other sports.

I think App and GS both figured, "If ULL id the best they've got, we'll be competitive right away!" SBC office saved ULL from being embarrassed twice in one year by "move-ups" #did not play GS

Back on topic, App State Over 8.5 wins has been bet up to -215. Not sure I'd take Over 9 if it moved there but that looks to be where it is headed.

Good post.
Indeed. My dad always said he enjoyed college ball so much more than the pros for the reasons listed above.
