South Campus: Brick & Mortar Announced
Early this Spring the MBJ posted an article about brick and mortar projects on South Campus across from Southern Ave to link across the railroad tracks. Looks like things are moving ahead at city, state level. Goal being to complete land bridge, new student rec center, and parking garage by Fall 2018 for ~$104M.
Student Rec Ctr - $62M
Parking Garage - $24M
Land Bridget - $18M

I can't wait to see it completed. I remember in freshman English class we had to write a paper on how to make crossing the railroad track on foot and in car safer. The teacher said you couldn't pick to build a bridge over or a tunnel under it. It wasn't practical to spend that much money...

Rudd now has ~ 46 thousand followers. That alone makes him an important voice for the University. Amazing really.

I just had a look at his Twitter. Very very cool. There is a lot more to the job than having a nice Twitter feed and making the right public statements; but no doubt that perception plays a big role as well. He is saying and doing all of the right things, and it seems like there is so much momentum in every phase for the university right now.

Encourage everyone to follow Dr. Rudds tweets --- informative *and* upbeat. A real nice break from the negative asshats -

The Rec Center and bridge are exciting news for sure. I think I like these renderings better than previous versions.

I would recommend changing the thread title though as this is all happening on the main campus south of the tracks, not on the Park Avenue (formerly South) Campus. When I saw the thread title I thought for sure that this was about the official announcement for the new football and basketball facilities on South Campus

Can't go under it... can't go over it... must go THROUGH it.
