RE: Flooding in San Marcos, TX...
If anyone is interested, there is a gofundme page for SM and Wimberley folks.
http://www.gofundme.com/vfe2jsg

Anyone in the general area can go volunteer. Just about every athlete on campus is out daily, helping in some capacity

Texas A&M filled a tractor trailer full of supplies and sent it to TXST/San Marcos this morning.

Corpus Christi sent 2 trailers filled with goods this morning

Blue October, who got their recording start in San Marcos, will be holding a benefit concert on June 7 (I think that's the right date) in SM.

Austin is flooding, storm moving NE towards Arkansas.

We had this flooding last week. Fortunately, no deaths. The water heads towards the Gulf but water from upstream is rolling our way and flooding everything along the Nueces River. We won't get any of the water from SM. Different river system.

In the late 90's/early 2000's, CatMom used to upload .mp3's to Napster, Kazaa, and Limewire under the wrong artist name.

That photo is of the Scream Machine @ Six Flags in Georgia. I think it was 2009 or 2010 when that park flooded.

the real thing is bad enough. I dont understand why some folks feel the need to post bogus pics of stuff from other parts of the country. the people living in the texas hill country have been hard hit. due to the hilly terrain, these heavy rains have been funneled into small river valleys causing 30-40 walls of water that take out everything as they roar thru. here in the dfw area we have more wide open spaces so rising flood waters dont move as fast and there is more time to get to shelter. seems like just about every couple of nights we have tornadoes nearby.

News just said TX has had 350,000,000,000 (yeah trillion) gallons of rain in May. Enough to cover the entire state in 8 inches of water.

How's the highland lakes looking up there? Last I saw was Lake Travis was only about 20' from full level. Big jump in the last 2 weeks.

Yeah, I was visiting family in Keller, TX last weekend. All the real estate agents around Austin were giddy. They've taken a beating around Lake Travis for the last few years.

I haven't kept up. Has the drought in Texas been officially broken?

Yes we are officially out of the drought. It's been years since we haven't had drought conditions. It's going to take a month for all this water to drain out of here.

Last I heard, In most areas, yes. There are still a few areas in the far west that have the advisory.

I checked yesterday and lake travis was only down 17'. it has come up 34' or more in the last two weeks. the next two lakes upstream are constant level lakes so they are only up slightly. they keep lbj (granite shoals) full because many of the power elite and austin big wheels have homes there. I have property in spicewood and lake travis has mostly been dry up to there for several years. there is a pretty cool time-laps video of lake travis rising on the web.

Yeah I saw that video.
There's a webcam on some site that has photos of the lake taken every 5 minutes. And old photos are archived so you can see the lake at 1.5 weeks ago to now. Big jump.
I know Travis is filling up. Hadn't seen big jumps at Lake Buchanan though. That one isn't constant level right?

News has said that the rains didn't hit in or around Buchanan so there was little to no change in its level.

I think Buchanan and Inks are only up a foot or two.

our property in spicewood is high and overlooking the vineyards so the only damage we got was from the high winds and the road washed out in a couple of spots.

I graduated from Blanco High School, and my family's ranch is still there... fortunately its up on a hill though and didn't suffer much damage. The bridge wash out was insane though. Never seen the river that high before in all my years there.
