How close is PPL Park to Temple?

Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

22 miles (30-40 mins. driving depending on traffic). For reference, where I grew up in the suburbs is only 10 miles from Temple (25-30 mins. driving depending on traffic)

For how not very spread out E. PA is, Chester is very far away.

And how far is the current stadium for comparison?

Good idea. Build a stadium so it will be empty for 2 teams. Makes fiscal sense

The Nova stadium would have seated about 20k.

Actually the University of Miami is in the city of Coral Gables NOT Miami.

I feel like Miami is no longer a big time program.

If they share a stadium with an MLS team, then they are doing badly. I don't care about the extra tv $. If they do this, erase all perception in your mind about Miami still being a big time program. (They haven't really been in years) Now is the time for UCF and USF to expand and dump as much cash into their football program as possible. Vie for the 3rd spot in a huge and rapidly growing college football state!

Most of what people think of Miami is not really the city. There are some really nice areas and there are some bad ones, just like in other major city.

Miami Beach vs. Miami proper. And Dolphins' Stadium is in Miami Gardens.

And even what you say Miami proper is mostly NOT the city of Miami.
The University of Miami is not in the city of Miami
Dolphin Stadium is NOT in the city of Miami
FIU is NOT in the city of Miami
South Beach is NOT in the city of Miami
brickell,Midtown,Coconut Grove all fun areas are in the city of Miami
Liberty City not a fun area is in the city of Miami

So there is much more to amid I than what people see in the news good and bad.

I think that was my point. I knew that the U was in Coarl Gables. The City itself hardly reflects the image Miami has nationally.

Miami should just play in baseball stadium where old Orange Bowl use to be. Bring in temporary seats and put on other sideline. And just play big games (i.e. Florida/Florida State/Notre Dame) in Dolphins Stadium. Let's them back closer to campus and can raise season ticket sale by having a smaller supply of tickets. Would probably only play a game in Dolphins Stadium once a year and maybe none some years.

Did you see the list of areas where they are considering building the new stadium?

Quote:sites near Marlins Park, Overtown and the Miami International Airport are all being considered...

Overtown. Really. OVERTOWN.

For those that don't know MIA, Overtown is a section of town that has repeatedly been burned to the ground in ethnic-rioting over the years. Think "Watts" only not as nice.

Marlins Park isn't in that great a neighborhood either, which has been an issue for the Marlins. (It sits on the site of the old Orange Bowl...) At least it has mass transit.

I can tell you that UM and Beckham have shot down the airport and overtown area. The overtown area has been changing lately, while still not nice it's nowhere what you describe there hasn't been an ethnic rioting of things burned to the ground in the area since 1989
As for the OB site one of the draw backs is that it does NOT have public transportation to it. Currently you must take a shuttle bus from the metro rail station
Marlins stadium is not in a great neighborhood but I have never experienced any problems walking in it going or coming from games
By the way I'm well aware of the good and bad areas in Miami. Have lived in Miami from 1970-78 and from 1982 until now. I went to middle school 5 blocks west from Marlins stadium and walked to and from school every day.

I don't understand how you can think this. I go the Toyota Park, home of the Chicago Fire, quite often. Toyota Park would be a great facility for a college football program. If UIC ever added football, it would fit them well.

THIS. 40k is fairly huge for an MLS club? I thought they (MLS) were requiring size appropriate stadiums. Especially for a suspect sports town like Miami.

Nova was going to play in an 18K stadium that could possibly be expanded in phases to 26 or 30K, if the primary tenant agreed. Nova wouldn't have contributed anything to the expansion, and would have been at the mercy of the soccer team for the expansion to happen.

Have they started any expansion of the soccer stadium yet? That should tell you about Nova's plan.

If the Miami plan was accurate, then it would have been starting out at 40 to 45 K. that's a huge difference.

I believe that Villanova didn't want to upgrade football, knew the stadium was an insurmountable issue (couldn't play on campus, Temple had LFF, Franklin Field and the Soccer stadium weren't valid alternatives), and went through the study as an effort to keep the Big East together, FWIW.
