Grizzlies up

When the Grizzles start loosing they will have the same uphill battle except for recruiting. The fans in this city can't support teams that are having down years.

The money the Grizz will receive from the new NBA TV contract will more than compensate for any potential ticket lag from an on the court drop off.

OK-Take out number 2 if you want to but you still can't survive without fan support and that is called move to another city.

Memphis has and always will be a fair weather fan base. Win and you have people, lose and you have empty. Most fans bases are like that excluding a few. When Dean Smith retired and they were not doing as well, NC was giving tickets away to people on the street. How do I know? I was visiting a friend in NC and we were offered tickets. Its nothing new.

That's a lot of money to lose. Hopefully, we start the season with some good OOC wins. I think we will have a good team next year, but if we lose early, then that lost income will go up.

It is so impressive that so many did not withhold their golden support while Tic Price was coaching or after a losing season or a few NITs under Finch or three NITs in five seasons with one tourney win under Calipari but lookout...

Four straight NCAA tourneys with a few wins, an undefeated conference record and three straight conference titles and a handful of ranked opponents wins followed by a singular 18-14 season...equals we are out of here!

Glad we had your support when the team was struggling, many times much more than last season, in the past.

Well, except for those attendance numbers in 2095 that were far lower than last season but went back up the following year when the team improved.

Really?

Don't know if its impressive or not. Don't care.

Don't care about who has the most season tickets.

Don't care about records.

The fact is the AD has been hemorrhaging money and based on early returns will continue to do so.

That's why many us are saying next season is a win BIG or go home.

Same old, same old ain't bringing money back.

It is what it is.

Good riddance

I say good riddance also to so called fans like 450 bench. When the tough get's going bail out. I hope if they get their wish about Pastner or if we start making it to final eight or better with Pastner or a new coach. That they want be able to get season tickets because they only support winners. Coach Nix always told us we are winners and winning makes you stronger but running away from defeat destroys you as person.

Fair enough and that's your opinion. As a Brother's boy, playing for coach Nix or Crone or even Charlie, along with other quality coaches before and after CBHS spoiled some of us on how coaches actually coach.
I'm an alum of the university, sent one child through and have on more that will be a freshman here this coming year. I'll continue to bleed blue and gray but I will not continue to support Josh as the basketball coach. IMO, he's killing the program.

Win big, solve all problems.

25+ wins and a S16 berth?

- Extension with pay raise likely
- Fans off back, in fact fans BEGGING him to stay (lifetime contract, first born, etc, etc)
- Recruiting goes up, making it easier to duplicate said S16
- Donation boost, leading to better facilities and assistant pay, leading to more wins.

Do that? Pastner will be golden and own Memphis on any terms he chooses.

Honestly, it's not ALL about wins anymore. It's about the culture and all the other curiously strange things that have gone on here under this coach's tenure. He's not the guy for the job here. Personally I think Josh has no chance of winning a large portion of hardcore fans back. None. That presents a huge problem.

Respectfully disagree.
He wins big, he can stay as long as he wants in my opinion.

How about this. Let's do the 'win big' part first.
Then we can revisit this after that?

Agreed?

Of course. We all want that. The cynical masses just aren't sure that's reality at the moment but we will certainly find out.

If they start winning again next year as in years past...Pastner will get no credit...it will all go to Coach Stoudamire.
Kind of a no win situation.

If season tickets were stocks, the Grizzlies would be prime to sell and Tiger basketball would be a buy.

The Grizz peaked this year and I see some rough years ahead. Meanwhile I think the Tigers have nowhere to go but up.

Probably would be a great year to lock down season tix

Unless it is because of pure hate for Pastner (which you admit) this seems a bit weird...

1996
- Ranked in top 10 to start the season
- Ranked #3 in the country in January
- 1 basket away from being ranked #1 in the country in January
- NCAA 1st round loss
CONCLUSION - no problem, still support the program/coach

1997
- No NCAA
- 16-15
CONCLUSION - no problem, still support the program/coach

1998
- No NCAA
- 17-12
- Lose to Southern Miss by 28 in 1st round of CUSA tournament
CONCLUSION - no problem, still support the program/coach

1999
- No NCAA
- 13-15
CONCLUSION - no problem, still support the program/coach (Tic Price!)

2000
- No NCAA
- 15-16
- 2 consecutive losing seasons
CONCLUSION - no problem, still support the program/coach

2001
- No NCAA
- 21-15
CONCLUSION - no problem, still support the program/coach

2002
- No NCAA
- 27-9
- First time in 32 years the program went 6 years without making the NCAA tournament
CONCLUSION - no problem, still support the coach/program

2011-2014
- 4 straight NCAA's
- 2 NCAA wins

2015
- No NCAA
- 18-14
CONCLUSION - I can't take it; the program is in ruins, I give up

Very strange how some of you people think in Memphis. I could throw around a few theories that would get people severely bent out of shape, but I won't. It is hard to avoid coming to certain conclusions though, that's for sure.
