The problem is they won't have Klugey, McBurnett, Frye or Saint Amour blocking for them. With one starter returning (you got a break with UAB transfer Rosco Byrd who started at LG for the Blazers) - IF your roster info is correct - the remaining OL returns only 5 starts and limited action in 15 games. I just don't see the holes being there for Breida and Ellison this year.
Let me comment on this. We came into 2014 losing 3 starters on the OL. None of the guys had ever been in Fritzs vastly different blocking system. 3 of the guys who did start were FCS walk ons. Our starting center weighed 260 pounds.
Now, after a year where we dominated in OL recruiting, and RSed all but one, we are going to struggle mightily? I just can't see it. We are going to be so much bigger across the board. All with a year under their belts.
Fair point of going into 2014 with an inexperienced line. I don't know how you can say GSU dominated in OL recruiting when none of those guys have played a down. OLinemen are the most unpredictable prospects of the class. We've had highly recruited guys ride the pine then disappear off the roster while some walk-on makes AC & AA winding up in the NFL.

You had an OL recruiting problem for quite a while so it may not be an accurate comparison.

I can't comment unitl I've read Seminole's analysis.

I bought one pre season magazine it featured the Southeast.
I live in the Southeast so didn't think much of it.
Texas St ,Idaho and NMSU were not included in the magazine .
I bought another one and any sports fan could have written it very general not worth reading.
Phil Steel at least had decent sized write ups for SBC teams.
The rest as far as the Sun Belt goes you could read it in line at the grocery store.

well I think it just shows everyone is an optimist at heart....as for Troy...really don't believe we will win the conference....of course that is not impossible but do not believe we will.....I really only believe that GState, NMState, and Idaho are the only teams with no real chance....the thread with the top three is true but anyone but the bottom 3 could have a shot..

everyone? I haven't seen USA, Idaho, NMSU, or Ga State proclaim that. I believe that ULL, stAte, App, and GSU all have good reason to believe their team will win it.

RE: First Pre Season Mags Are Out
I don't put a lot of confidence in preseason mags, or coaches preseason conference picks.
Nobody predicted GS, and App State success, not mags, not coaches.
Louisiana was predicted to be a bottom feeder the year Hud came the number for last that year I think at the time 125th, and last by coaches picks.
Cajuns have some big holes to fill, we think we got the people to fill um, and just as importantly upgrades at other positions. Hud usually has one game where he cannot get the boys ready to play a conference game. So while I think the Cajuns have every chance to be in it ya never know. It seems to me both App State and G S have a whole lot more coming back at the important positions.
Still I know we did pretty well with a bunch of freshman pitchers this year.

For a fan of a Sun Belt school, Phil Steele is the only one I would spend my money on. And, that's just because he gives about equal coverage to the Sun Belt schools as he gives to the rest of the conferences/schools.

Steele seems to consistently slight A-State despite our recent success. As someone who used to buy his magazine annually, I think his Sun Belt coverage has been trash.

Steele is my gold standard when it comes to preseason mags. I could care less about the endless self promotion, but he does give every team a good look and is far from the worst in the way of predictions.
I give him the benefit of a doubt for woefully under rating both GS and Appy last season. Can't wait to see what he thinks now that there is more solid info.

I agree completely. They are fun to look at and tell you that the season is beckoning. However, I put little stock in them considering when they go to press.
