We had a president toy with the idea and the president of the senate vowed to gut the Jonesboro campus budget and pour it into the juco campus and make it a four year school and he backed off before it ever became public.

That won't happen here as our state legislature is full of UAT grads. Gov was put in office by guy who controls UAT BOT (PBJ) & was Bear Bryant's doctor as well

I can't imagine the emotions they've gone through on this.

People wonder why almost all of us can't state our land grant universities. A couple of examples that happened to Western by UK. I just heard this one the other day.

The Commonwealth decided it needed another law school. The natural place would have been Western. Far enough away from UK or U of L yet centrally located for the western half of the state. NO. UK meddling forced it to a tiny (at the time) division 2 in sports university on the outskirts of Cincinnati. The University of Northern Ky.

They fought tooth and nail to keep Western from getting an Engineering College even though it was needed.

When our President worked with the city of BG to get funding to renovate Diddle Arena UK meddlers tried to get involved and say it couldn't be done.

These are the reasons I celebrated in my living room when Wisconsin beat the Kayutts in the Final Four. Well, those examples and the hilljack fans that follow them.

I can't imagine being under their feet the way that UAB has been with the Bammer hilljacks.

If a school doesn't have a screwed by the man story it is either the man or the truth has been tightly concealed.
