Off Season Poll: Liberty All Sport or UAB/UMass Combo
Title pretty much sums it up. Expansion has to come in the eastern half of the league to give the Boys from Boone a friend during Rivalry Week.

If the final two choice was either adding Liberty as a Full Member or picking up UAB Olympic Sports paired with UMass football.

Which do you want?

I'd rather have that trip to Amherst(and stay in Boston) to look forward to.

If these are the only options then I would say Liberty because while I like UAB I would not want to pair them with UMASS.

If you're going to take another redundant poll, at least make it more realistic...or link us to the last one.

I picked the UAb choice purely for their basketball, and it will bring my Jags close to my home. But there has always been complaints of to many teams in Alabama, I know this isn't football, but it would still be 3 teams in this state.

Not a fan of UMASS football, but they are already FBS, so that helps over Liberty.

I'm fine with adding UAB, I'm just opposed to adding a football only when there is not a critical need or the potential greatly improve our caliber of play.

This is like choosing between a rectal exam and a root canal . . . . without anesthesia

It's not going to matter anyway because Watts is never going to allow UAB to move to a conference that sponsors FBS football. If he does the bring back football crowd will never let it die. UAB is headed for the MVC and if not there some other league without FBS football.

I didn't want to create a duplicate post so I looked around but didn't see this exact question answered.

What I've found on this board is that we are not interested in Liberty and many of the posters feel that we should go after UAB if CUSA kicks them out.

As for the realism of the post, at this time UAB is poised to be kicked out of CUSA because they do not field a football team. UMass is/was kicked out of the MAC because they would prefer their Olympic sports (specifically basketball) play in the A10. UMass needs an FBS home.

We already have the hybrid Idaho/UALR, NMST/UTA thing happening in the western half of the league. Why is it unrealistic to think that it couldn't happen in the east?

Not what I've heard. Belt is being considered right along with MVC. Watts isn't bringing football back regardless of conference.

Pros of UAB to MVC are it's a better basketball conference and probably better fit for UAB

Pros of joining SBC are much less travel costs. And UAB is all about cutting costs right now.

IF UAB would actually consider accepting an SBC offer, I'd love to have them because they immediately help SBC Hoops, but I don't want them with UMass . . . UMAss is not a good fit, for the same reasons Idaho is not a good fit, and it's not personal Idaho, I've got nothing against you . .. . .

The BOT will want to make sure the next one can't either.

We have an outlier in Idaho, which for the record, is not the end of the world (unless it were flat), so there's no need to compound that "problem." As for NMSt, (I am an advocate for full membership) Benson was interview during one of the games yesterday and he stated the the west was "complete" and the east needs to be whole. Can't say they won't be added, it just doesn't sound like it.
