RE: LaTech to hire Miami assistant, Eric Konkol
Louisiana Tech has finally completed its basketball coaching staff exactly one month after Eric Konkol was introduced as the Bulldogs' new coach.
Tech has hired Wisconsin-Milwaukee's Duffy Conroy as the new associate head coach. Conroy replaces former associate head coach Matt McMahon, who left for Murray State's head job June 8.
Conroy fits the bill of Konkol's continuing theme of hiring assistants with previous connections —Konkol and Andy Fox, Tech's director of basketball operations, have been friends since 1999 and Tony Skinn, Tech's third assistant, played for Konkol at George Mason. Tech's No. 2 assistant, Corey Barker, is the lone staff member without a direct connection to Konkol.
Conroy and Konkol first met as camp counselors in 1998 under the direction of Ed Conroy, who is Duffy Conroy's older brother and the current head coach at Tulane.

I see that one of Tech's released recruits signed with Florida.
That's unethical as ****. The recruits deserved a release, but a departing coach should not recruit them.

He may take two of them. We've lost all but 1 2015 White recruit so far. The 1 remaining lists Florida as one of his possible destinations.

I agree. I'm fine with the kid getting a release from the original school that he signed with because his coach left. But I think a departing coach should NEVER be allowed to bring his previous schools "recruits" with him to his new destination. Afterall, the coach made the decision to change jobs and cause everybody else a ton of headache. It should simply be considered the cost of changing jobs.
