3 point shooting wasn't a problem and TOs were sporadically a problem. Lack of D was consistently a problem.

Rockets were 9th in the MAC in 3 pt FG% and lost 5 games by 3 points or less, it was a problem. Steals, UT was at the very bottom of the Conference(#12).

Joplin's teams actually played better D. Were they better teams? Coach K really needs to intensify the D.

D wins

For as talented as the most recent 2 squads were, there were just enough problem areas to keep them from being "dream" seasons. There are a few areas we certainly need to improve in.

Stan's teams got after you applying pressure until you miscued. Though Valencia(?) was undersized he had motor and a heart. I likes the cut if their jib. Too bad some were of corrupted character.

MAC site shows Toledo second in the MAC in three point percentage at .366. Only CMU shot better.

Sorry, it was "3pt FG made" where UT was near the bottom of the MAC. I hadn't looked at the MAC stats for a few weeks.

RE: Steve Taylor Jr - 6'7 240 PF
Taylor was a top 100 player coming out of high school. Rated 3.7 to 4 stars. He must think that he can realize his potential in Toledo. Coach K has taken risks on guys with a whole lot less talent. There was one scholarship left to risk on a "project" player if necessary. Giving it to a top 100 guy is not a big risk.

Here's a link to a story on the UT site about Taylor's transfer.
